Is there a device I can purchase that will allow my MX-132 to turn the AC power on and off to my older non-remote controlled McIntosh amps? It's a minor annoyance to have to turn my three McIntosh amps on and off individually.

Is it safe to use with an MC2105? I'm afraid the power on trigger might damage the amp. And what about for a MR74?
 
Assuming the MX-132 has Mac's usual 5-volt power control output via a 1/8" phono jack, you can obtain a surge protector that has a trigger input. Panamax offers a few that have both high-current amplifier and accessory switching and are compatible with a 5V trigger. They start at about $150.
 
I called Audio Classics this afternoon and was told, even though it's listed at the McIntosh Labs website as a current product, the McIntosh PC-4 was discontinued. :(

Unfortunately, all Audio Classics apparently cancels for power distribution is Monster Cable stuff - however, I refuse to give my hard-earned money to such a disreputable and disgusting company as Monster Cable.
 
Any 15 amp terminal strip should work. Most of them will trigger with 2 to 20 volts..

I'm not a huge Monster fan at all but I am curious why you hold the company in such low regard? :scratch2:
 
What???? I am not sure where you are coming from. I answered a question applying common knowledge about 5 volt switched terminal strips. There are probably more than 100 choices in the market. Just make sure it is 15 amps and the MR74 and MC2105 will be fine.

Just do a Google search for "monster cable lawsuits" without the quotations and my reasons will become clear.
 
Let's save Monster Cable talk for another thread.

The McIntosh PC4 was only $90 - and supported remote triggering.

Any power strips/surge protectors/conditioners I've found so far with remote triggering cost something like TWICE that.

What's in the McIntosh's price range that will do the job?

Suing anyone with the word "monster" anywhere in their name is going a bit far, don't you think? I get the impression they'd sue Nessy if they could track her down long enough to serve her papers.
 
Ok, here's what I *did* buy from Tiger Direct.. a Belkin power console

I've seen a number of reviews by buyers that claim these type of power filters make an audible difference in systems. I'm as skeptical of this as I am of audiophile "power cords" but we'll see. At least it gives me a lot of outlets, and a lot of flexibility. Plus my old analog amps will now power on and off via the remote on my MX-132.
 
Rotel sells their RLC-900 power center ($200) that turns your equipment on and off in the correct sequence. The current model has a 12v trigger. The Rotel only has two outlets for amps (combined 1500w) so two would be needed to do what you want.
