Time to start thinking Secret Santa!

Kamakiri

The New Dynamic
While it may seem early to start thinking of a Secret Santa signup, if you add it up we're going to be right on time. If we start the signups first week of November, give everyone a week to sign up, then 2-3 weeks to shop and ship, it's time to get going!

Yep folks, once again we're going to be doing signups for AudioKarma Secret Santa, check out other threads in this forum for how it goes down and the fun we've had :)

Now, this is NOT a signup thread, so if you post in here don't consider yourself signed up! The signup thread will come in about a week and be open for a couple weeks to allow everyone ample time to make up their minds ;)

More to come......

I have participated in this the last two years and it has been a blast. :thmbsp: I've had the most fun trying to discover just the right gift(s) to send and then smart shopping to make my $ go the farthest.

I especially like the random exchange. You are sending a gift to someone other than the person you are receiving a gift from.

I'll be watching for the sign up.

Cool! I was just thinking about this just the other day...

What type of presents does Santa trade ? Just so I have an idea of what to look for around here :)

Hhhmmmm... Sounds like fun. :scratch2: Finding gift items is not a big problem here [Hong Kong], but trans-Pacific postage costs are deadly, often way out-weighing the value of the gift. Sort of limits me to sending smaller items instead of components, but I guess there are some nice enough lightweight things [TT cartridges, LPs, CDs, cables...] that don't weigh as much as monster receivers. Will have to put my thinking cap on and keep my eyes open... if I can find something good enough and affordable to send, I'll be in! :D

Seems like I recall a $30 limit plus shipping. Canada Ak'ers exchanged with each other and US members exchanged with each other to keep shipping expense down.

From what I recall most gifts were audio related. You can read over the thread in this forum where everyone posted what they received to get some ideas.

Could be anything from cigars to food baskets to audio gear to anything. The key is to get to know the member that you've been given to buy for and send them a nice surprise :)

I believe that last year was an International Secret Santa. The "What'd everybody get?" thread bears this out. I would prefer that not change, if that means anything. Shipping costs are not that bad, if you get an early start, or don't ship a 60-pound receiver.

Oops! I am sure you are right Ernie. I guess what I am remembering is discussion of not shipping across the border. I like the International SS as well.
