Too fix or replace

Well I think I will set the 1010s aside for a bit. Figuring a replacement stylus/cartridge. Building a base, and rewiring is going to cost time and money. I got some spare cash but no spare time...so I picked up this relic. Has a new cart and belt, all functions work and speed is solid according to my phone app. Sounds nice enough and heck if I do fix up the 1010 later the 980 has two phono inputs...curious if anyone recognizes this cart? Don't want to pull it out as it's all set up for me. I need to replace the rca cables...but I have some rockford fosgates I can sacrifice for this. Otherwise minty mint.

Oops...phone typing. Won't let me fix it now. Didn't even notice.

I think you're right. Well that covers the purchase price then. :)

Looks like you got a nice Philips turntable! It looks like a 212 or a 312 except your dust cover is held up by a bar. The cartridge is mounted on a slide carrier. Just hold the head shell and pull on the front tab. I’ve liked every philips I’ve tried. And it plays very well. I do the Thorens bounce tests on mine to check the suspension.

Haha..yeah it's a 212. The little bar doohicky is spring loaded with a rubber foot. It pops down when you lift the cover. Then you hold it up to close it. The hinges are a slide on deal...so you can completely remove it. I am thinking I need to flip it over to remove the bottom so I can replace the cables. I am on the road this week so that photo was taken in a hotel room. Once I get it home I can investigate further. Seller played a few different albums on it for me. Sounded good enough to my damaged listening holes.

He also had a very cool kyocera cd player I want...but the CFO put a stop to that.

Found a little red house over yonder....

Yup, it's a keeper...sounds like the guitar is right beside me.

Not even phased by the vega's in the least...not it's final home. The console lift system is still in progress...

You have Phillips 212. While I am married to Duals, and own a 1010S, for nostalgia. Your Phillips is a much better turntable. Better specs and better arm. A keeper even after the Dual gets fixed. Enjoy!

Thannks! We are enjoying it. I have a bit of hum at high volumes but beleive it's the mangled cables....but I am solidly into the console build now so they will wait. Ordered a few LP's from amazon but gave my old led zepplin and supertramp albums a good run. So far very impressive. I seem to remember deep bass causing my records to skip..but this thing isn't even phased by the vegas at full boom (well as loud as my ears could handle). Very happy with it.

My daughter also enjoyed my old disco mickey mouse album!
