Does anyone have any experience with this particular TT? My unit seems to function accordingly but the tone-arm doesn't seem to lift up high enough and it will drag across the surface of the record on return. It won't cue correctly either since the needle doesn't clear the lip of the LP.

Is there a way to adjust this or do I need dampening fluid? Dunno enough about this particular unit to move forward with it. Any suggestions?

Some close up pictures of the tonearm pivot area would helpful. :music:

There is no owners manual or service manual for this model in the Vinylengine library.
 
Okay....here's some pics.

The first picture is of the cue lever in the down position.

The second picture is of the cue lever in the up position. You can see it doesn't even touch the tone-arm tube which is the problem.

The third pictures shows the amount of remaining travel left in the lift mechanism. It slowly lowers if I let go of it.

The tone-arm simply doesn't get lifted before it rotates to and fro the vinyl.

Simple things first. Push the cue bar down to expose the hex headed screw. Back off the screw to adjust the lift higher. Worth a shot.
 
Success! I tried the screw on the cue bar. It loosened up and the cue bar popped up considerably with a little coaxing. I was able to adjust the height accordingly and re-tightened the screw so now the cue bar clearance is appropriate for cueing and auto-return.

I didn't know how much I could pull on it without risking damage so I thought to ask before I proceeded. Thanks Gary! The TT works like a charm now.:banana:
 
Thinking of getting one

I know it's an old post but thought I'd give it a shot anyway. I'm thinking of getting a used Toshiba SR-FX70 and was wondering what your thoughts are in the sound quality category? A local listing has it for $50 without Cart.

Welcome to the AK turn table forum.

Should be a pretty good turn table.

See if you could get a headshell to go with the tun table.

If you, could bring a heashell with a cartridge, an expendable LP and make sure all the features are fully functional.

A couple issues with the turntable the should be fixable

Here is what you need to know before purchasing:

* Dust Cover has small cracks at each of the back hinges, but otherwise in tact
* Platter runs continuously when plugged in. Hasn't always been that way, but recently decided to do that, and I can't figure out how to fix it. There is a stamp under the platter that tells how to reset it, but I haven't been able to do it.
* Stylus and Cartridge not included, but headshell is. If you want I will throw in a brand new Shure M97X stylus and cartridge for an additional $50.

Other than above issues it is a great turntable. Currently listed models on E Bay are above $400, so at $50 you have a lot of wiggle room.
