I took my son to the county landfill today in Howard County, MD. Immediately upon entering, on the right, is the electronics roll-off piled high with CRTs. Then I saw the most scandalous site—JBLs piled on top of those O-So 2004 CRTs! Our CR-V was full with junk so I couldn't just aimlessly wander toward what should be the spoils of audio gluttony. We did our thing at the metal station and, yes, I had to ask. I engaged the local "officer." "Sorry, no scavenging." I had to restrain myself and I did not want to appear obsessed in front of my son. SO: WHOEVER YOU ARE, DO NOT TOSS JBL SPEAKERS IN THE DUMPSTER! At least put them up on CL as FREE or donate them to charity and get a tax deduction! So I told my son the tweeters are worth about $150 per pair. The woofers, who knows. In the dumpster was about $400. I kept my composure, though, since my son was with me. But I still don't feel any better!
Then I went a-thriftin'. What do I find but a whole package of JBL brochures. You know, the good stuff. 4312, 4311, etc, Summit, Professional gear, etc. BUT NO JBL SPEAKERS! So here I am, typing, surrounded by JBL and Advent speakers and feeling pretty good about not having ANOTHER pair of speakers in the house. Maybe this is a good thing.
If you can relate to this post, you know what I died to today.
