Anyone ever heard of Phil Clements and Phase Research? These are an early prototype from him that never made it to production. I have an opportunity to purchase them- trying to figure out what I should offer as the seller does not want to set a price.

Yep! That's him. I came across them because I replied to his ad for a set of ADS L-690s. The more I think about it though, the more I think it's the uniqueness factor rather than the usefulness factor that's driving my interest. Better to save my cash.

I don't remember if I actually communicated with him or not. I might have made him an offer. I got the impression that he thinks they are worth thousands of dollars because they are prototypes and one of a kind. They very well may be great speakers, I don't know.

I remember seeing him at a show many years ago. I believe he was showing his Phase R model. I think those were his first commercial speakers he sold. They were well reviewed. They were a soft dome design and I think he did some ribbon designs later.
I'm suspicious of the woofers on these as my faulty/foggy memory doesn't recall any having poly cones.
