True Wireless earbuds

I am in search of a pair of "True Wireless" earbuds and I was wondering if anyone has a good recommendation or if I should just give up the wireless concept and go for corded earbuds. As an audiophile, sound quality is the top concern but I was looking for something that I could use during the day and even for sleeping, that's why I was focusing on earbuds instead of over the ear designs. Thanks.

Supposedly the Sony WF-1000XM3 is the best (or one of the best) of the bunch; however, I purchased a pair and wasn't able to reproduce the bass or overall sound that I get with my entry level Etymotic ER-6s (admittedly they came with triple flanged earpieces, and the Sony only had standard single flange), or even with the Shures I had earlier, which did not come with those earpieces.. Some people rave about the Apple Earpod Pro, but I haven't tried them. Your mileage may vary.

I have the Tranya Rimor, T3 pro, and B531s and like them all. The Rimor would be the most audiophile presentation ones but the other two are more bass heavy which works better for my usage in the gym. Around holidays and sales you can get them for ~$30 - $45 each.

Elsewhere I posted a review on the. FiiO BTR5 DAC/headphone amp. I am using the BTR5 to power my Shure SE-215’s, and the Etymōtic ER3SE. The BTR5 is small, not much larger than a high capacity flash drive. The Shure and the Ety’s sound better plugged into the FiiO than plugged directly into my iPhone. As for sleeping with earphones, there is nothing better then Etymōtics. They fit into your ear and whiles sleeping there is nothing poking out of your ears to make you uncomfortable on a pillow. The nice thing is with the BTR5 you csn pick a really good set of earphone independent of the wireless side.

I reviewed the Jabra 75t wireless not too long ago. I prefer them to the original AirPods ( haven’t heard the new ones). They have a more of an out of the head sound that you may or may not enjoy. I like them, but still prefer my Ety ER4P wired earbuds. That said, when I am working in the yard or cooking out, these are great for my needs.

I tried the Anker Liberty Plus and ended up giving them to my daughter, just couldn't get them to sound right. Ok bass, shouty miss and meh highs.......gone.

Next up were the Jabra 75t, got a great deal but just couldn't warm up to them. Boom not bass that muddied the midrange with almost shrill highs.......stepson gets a new set of earphones.

I tried a pair of Klipsch R6 neckband that sounded pretty good if you could get them to stay in your ears just right.....now don't move. I also couldn't get comfortable with the neckband, I'm a big guy and it felt like I was about to be strangled.........wife loves them for use at her desk.

I listened to a friend's Sony WX-1000/2 but don't like the giant cans when I'm out walking. They sounded pretty good but I just couldn't get comfortable.

Just got a pair of Master & Dynamic MW 07's...,...so far, so good. Real bass, clean mids but sometimes some songs seem a little bright. Best of the bunch so far, but that may change.

The second generation Sennheiser wireless earbuds are getting good reviews but I struggle to justify the investment for something I may listen to 2-3 hours a week. I may bite the bullet......maybe

The biggest problem I have with really expensive Bluetooth earphones is the battery. You have this expensive set if earphones they might sound OK but if youR battery fails outside of it warranty you are stuck witch a unusable set of earphones. I am very satisfied with the FiiO BTR5 setup.

Just remember....your FiiO has a battery that could fail someday, then what ?

Battery technology is leaps and bounds ahead of where it was even just a few years ago.

While it is a valid consideration, battery life shouldn't be much of a concern.

I would still have a set of usable high quality earphones. These FiiO devices can be powered by an external battery if necessary. They have high quality batteries I have one if their hard wired DAC/Amps that is 5 years old and going strong.
