TU-919 stereo reception

I have a problem with my TU-919. The problem is that it hardly manages to get stereo reception on lower quality stations (where other tuners don't have any problem). I would be gratefull if anyone could suggest where to look for a problem and share TU-919 schematics and service manual.

Hi Skyglider, Welcome to AudioKarma. The TU-919 is one of the best tuners ever made by anyone. You are very fortunate to have it. It should pull in weak stations better than anything you have. Do you have an antenna connected?

Hi Pete and thank you for the welcome! I've tried the tuner with indoor dipole antenna connected to 300ohm input and with 1.5m wire connected to the 75ohm antenna input. The both gave same - poor results. The tuner is capable of stereo reception only for the few strongest stations where other tuners that I have perform much, much better. The tuner is not serviced - I will surely have to replace the elect. capacitors but I'm afraid that the problem for stereo reception may be somwhere else.

Sounds like it's out of alignment. You don't mention anything "not working" otherwise. Alignments aren't that expensive and after almost 30 years to be expected.

I have a friend that is an expert radio technician - but I don't have service manual and schematics for TU-919. I would be grateful if someone have pdfs/scans and would like to share.
