TV series that you wish had lasted longer....

Another T.V. show I really got into but then they canceled it after one season was RUBICON. The lead character works at a political think tank that his mother got him the job and in the first episode his father is killed and he's convinced he was murdered.
He starts digging around only to discover someone is putting obstacles in his way and as the season goes on discovers his company has its fingers in every corner of the government and is profiting from it. The companies politics are contrary to his beliefs and sets about to try and get the truth out.

x1000!

Pitch perfect, absolutely superb. My wife & I were brutally disappointed when it was not renewed.

Fortunately, Michael Cristofer (Truxton Spangler in Rubicon) plays essentially the same role in Mr. Robot and he is great at it.

Defying Gravity. I really wanted to see where their mission was going! I guess the networks couldn't have cared less the way it was left at the side of the road like a Christmas tree in January.

And speaking of failed Summer Glau series ... the Sarah Conner Chronicles?

Great show. Unfortunately it really did not start to cook until the 2nd season but cook it did.

In the entire franchise of films no scene gave a better indication of what a Terminator was capable of -

Michael Mann was indeed a genius, combining MTV with cop shows. MV set the standard for style throughout the `80s, it changed the way men dressed, shaved, cut their hair. EVERY celebrity wanted a cameo on that show....among the notables: James Brown, Ted Nugent, Frank Zappa, G. Gordon Liddy (!), Glenn Fry, Penn Gillette, Miles Davis (!), Sheena Easton, Very young versions of Jimmy Smits and Esai Morales, and many others.

As far as the cars go, the first (black) one was a 1970`s Corvette frame with a replica fiberglass Ferrari Daytona Spyder body mounted on it. The second (white) one I believe was a real Testarossa....

Thanks for the insight... ! I remember (in kooky adolescence).. trying to mimic the vehicle with a Pontiac Grand Am..

Too large, wrong nose cone, and not as agile... :rflmao:

I DO recall the Testarossa.. it was free advertising for Ferrari I am sure... ticked Lamborghini off too

I've got a few. It became a running joke for my wife & came that if we both liked a show it was likely to be canceled after 1-2 seasons. Without repeating here are mine -

Trust Me
2009 (Travails of a small advertising agency in Chicago, very funny but not pie in the face humor.)

Better Off Ted 2009-2010 (22 minutes of megacorp office comedy platinum.)

Terriers 2010 (Maybe one of the best to come out of network TV in recent years with a Firefly level of disappointment for my wife & I when canceled.)

Too many shows lingered on and on, more and more seasons, with poor scripts and tired actors

I agree, for every show I liked that was cut short at a season or two there are more that ran on too long and lost their magic. The worst is when they take a really good show that is struggling in the ratings and start changing it around and ruin it and then cancel it.

But a few that I wish had gotten a chance:

"Men Of A Certain Age" was a comedy/drama starring Ray Romano, Andre` Braugher, and Scott Bacula as 3 lifelong friends who are now about to turn 50, and followed the trials & tribulations of their lives. It survived barely two seasons (2009-2011), I was hoping for more....

"Life On Mars" had NYPD Detective Sam Tyler get struck by a car in 2008, only to wake up in 1972, with no idea how that happened. Interesting while it lasted....
.
Please- go track down the (original) 2 season British version of "Life On Mars" and the 3 season
follow up series "Ashes to Ashes" to really get the whole arc of the story - fantastic!!

I'll 4th Rubicon ...

Anybody else follow "Limitless" last year? Started off as an extension of the movie - but here and there they would do a show that was an homage to a film and while they'd move the story along - (they did a Ferris Bueller episode) all the cues and references were pitch perfect to the film. Probably too clever for Prime time, but it was a scream and had us glued to the DVR every week to see what they'd do next. cancelled/ended after 22 episodes (1 season) May 2016 ---

OMG - they are actually still trying to get a season 2 ...

They never show The Kings face but the southern drawl, his clothes and he is making his signature sandwich The flutter butter and offers one to the main character. That was the last episode because it was canceled. Anyone? I loved this show and always looked forward to it each week.
