University Classic speakers?

These are available locally. I've read really good things about them and they'd likely be excellent for a tube amp.

But they are expensive - seemingly $1,000 for the pair. What should these be going for?

Seems about right to me also.

There are great if built right and the joints are tight and the cabinet is sealed good. The components that are supposed to be in this design are the HF-206 HYPERSONIC Horn Tweeters (highest I've seen these sale for are $286.00 in 2008), the Mid-range Cobreflex-2 horns with T-30 compression drivers (ebay prices anywhere from $100 to $250.00) and the C-15W woofer (again ebay range of $100+) and last the N-3 University 3-way crossover (another $100.00+).

You also need to consider the cost of the speaker cabinet which could add another $100.00 to the total and the labor to build the cabinets.

I would insist on unscrewing the back panels and look at each component and it's condition before shelling out this kinda cash IMO. Doesn't hurt to take a DMM and check the resistance of each also.
