I was listening to this LP for the first time in ages, lastnight and I have to say I love the way it is mixed. When the lead vocalist comes in it is so full sounding and much louder than the band. My copy is a bit rough. I have to find a copy in mint shape.

This title lives in the used bins.

Be patient. Pick up "Magician's Birthday" if you see that.

I was lucky enough to find a real clean thrift copy a couple of years ago .Never come across another one since.Full rich sounding.I burned a cut of "The Wizard" off the web a couple of years ago and it is one of my demo tracks for new setups.

I was a huge fan and still am . I saw them live in '73 in Chicago. Manfred Mann's Earthband was the back-up band and played the entire "Solar Fire" LP very good stuff! Uriah Heep closed the show with "July Morning" off of Magician's Birthday, awesome!! Good luck & enjoy!

Demons and Magicians Birthday are both very good albums.

Cactus Bob I'm jealous. Never got to see Uriah Heep live. Closest I came was a drive by at the coliseum in Madison WI when they played there in Aug 74.

If you like the Heep the Ken Hensley solos are good too. Proud words on a dusty shelf comes to mind.

I found a mint "Look at Yourself" LP recently at a thrift to replace my worn version, but it is missing the mirror on the cover. Good LP also.

Too bad Scram Man, at least you drove by :scratch2:

is off of Look @ Yourself.a great album by the way. Salisbury is my favorite Uriah Heep album, the import has different songs.
Saw the Magicians Birthday tour back in the day peeking on LSD,Long John Baldry opened for them. Great concert, they played almost everything off of Demons and Wizards and Magicians Birthday. Ken Hensly really opened up his moog that night. :thmbsp:

i saw heep open for tull in reno back in '78. awesome show!

been a fan of both since at least '72 or so. :music:

This is one of those albums that you have to listen to on vinyl. I picked up the CD a couple of years ago & the mastering is awful! Beyond awful!:thumbsdn:

Oops forgot. That's what happens when you did what you did . . . by the way, what is peeking? :D

I have been lucky to find a couple of the aforementioned albums
I also found a really nice copy of Sweet Freedom Japan release.

Heep had a few great albums around that time period, but Magician's Birthday and Demons and Wizards are my two favorites.

Demons is good, as is Magician's Birthday. If you want to blow your mind, pick up "Very 'Eavy, Very 'Umble".

These were 2 of my faves BITD. The singer in my first band loved UH and even sang like David Byron. Try "Look At Yourself". It has a mirror on the cover to observe the title whilst stoned.
