Is Vector Research a good brand for turntables? I don't know anything more about it, other than it is a working Vector Research Turntable, and its free. Its the first I've heard of the brand, and yes, if this is a well known brand, it does make me sound like a newbie, but I just want to know if its worth picking up.

Well, the price is right. Go get it and see if you like it. I have never heard one, so I can't comment on that.
 
VR made some upscale receivers and other audio components but they never seemed to catch on. They look great, but they had no niche. I'd love to see a pic of a VR turntable.
 
I had seen one at a thrift store. It looked impressive till i lifted it and found it was very light, platter was light too.
Free is good though.
