Very Excited, my 4270 will soon be on its way home.

Back in November, after doing a bunch of research, I decided to send my Marantz 4270 to Chris Ready for a restoration. This unit has been in the family since it was purchased new in Okinawa, Japan on the AF Base by a family member.
Chris called me earlier today.
The job is almost completed, over 200 components replaced. He told me this was one of the nicest, if not the nicest 4270 that he has worked on, and that it was in excellent overall shape. We talked for almost 20 minutes, he has been working in it for over a week. He is going to include a worksheet on the unit with the itemized list of the pieces he replaced and the work he did for future reference.
I cannot wait.
I will update this thread when she is back in my hands.

That's a beast!

I have read a lot of your posts, and you clearly are knowledgeable about these things, I am not. I can wire a show winning hot rod from scratch, and have done so many times, but when it comes to how this all works I know zip point zero. Even I can tell that there is a whole lot of stuff packed in a relatively small place, and after talking to Chris and seeing these pictures I am very glad I didn't decide to try to jump into this.
I am really excited to put this to work again, and play the music that I heard through it so many years ago. I need to get the cart ordered for my turntable and get a new set of headphones on the way, because I know will be up all hours of the night listening to music with this.
Thanks for chiming in, I appreciate it!

Chris does replace a lot of components. He's not recapping, he's restoring and making the unit right for the next twenty years. Lots of small transistors, diodes and variable resistors will be in the bag of pulls he sends with the unit.

I live out in the country, but not that far out...nearest neighbor 250 yards. Sound travels out here. I am going to be hooking it up to some nice Klipsch RF-3 II's and I am sure they will hear them.

Chris is a very straight shooter, He told me exactly what to expect and what he was going to do. It is my goal to have this unit online for the remainder of my life and then my sons can argue over who gets it. I went into this looking for a restoration, not just a tune up. He told me the bag of pulls would be pretty full, and gave me some production info on the unit as well. It shipped yesterday, but has a long road home, and with the weather in the middle of the country being what it is I will be happy if it arrives on the 22nd as "predicted".

Next year, if I can $wing it, I also have the Sansui 1000a tube type amp that the Marantz was purchased to replace. I'd like to get it restored as well, and be able to have them both in the listening room I hope to set up when we move into the empty nest home we are going to be looking for once my wife retires.

Well it is finally home. FedEx...what a mess. Call me paranoid if you like, but I am not plugging it in until my Furman Line Conditioner/Surge Protector arrives in a couple of days. Anyway, I am excited just to have it safely in our den. I am still waiting for the turntable stylus to arrive anyway. I have a Bluetooth adaptor so I could Blutetooth my phone to it an listen to satellite radio on it, but I want the first music I hear through it to be from a vinyl album that has a lot of good memories attached to it, and that I have heard before through this unit...many years ago.
Will update with my thoughts on that once the dang surge protector gets here.

A couple more pics, including the worksheet Chris sent along and the bags of pulls he included.
