If you have some sort of pedal(s) that provides boost it wouldn't hurt to just go through that and then into the stock amp using a 1/4" to RCA adaptor and see what it sounds like.
If you don't have an appropriate pedal, just try the adaptor and listen. It may be too clean - not much in the way of the normally desirable distortion.
Modifying the operating points on the 6AU6 would be the way to go if you want to make more permanent changes. It seems to be running at very low voltage and plate dissipation compared to what the data sheet allows.
