Nice! I picked up a great pair of the same speakers that I used as my main pair for years for $5. Now I can't pass a thrift store without stopping.

Dang! Monitor 10s are nice speakers. $20 is an unqualified steal.

Congratulations on a great find.

noce score...would love to own a pair....what version are they??

No fuses on the back

The serial numbers and model number are on a plate in the upper right on the rear of the speakers and simply state "10 177961" on one speaker and "10 177959" on the other

I saw an ebay listing for cross-over mod kits that tries to give a guide to identifying which versions of 10's you have.

If your Monitor 10's are NOT equipped with externally mounted fuses, then you have either the 2nd version of the Monitor 10B or the Monitor 10 series2, so you will need to remove the tweeter and take a look at the back of its magnet.

If the back of the tweeter is labeled SL2000, then you have the 2nd version of the Monitor 10B.
If the back of the tweeter is labeled SL2500, then you have the Monitor 10 series2.

Being on a budget, my main speakers are Monitor 40s, which I bought new for $150/pr. They sound ridiculously good -- far better than a $150 pair of speakers has a right to. They also have all the power and bass I need -- and all out of 2 6-in drivers/tweeter. For $20, you got a steal! How come my thrift stores never have anything good? Even the old LPs are crappy. :tears:

Love the collection of German console extension speakers :D

I'm running Telefunken RS-4s as my rear surrounds -- I have a modest Yamaha DSP-E300 that powers the Front "Presence", the center channel, and the rear surrounds with 15W per channel.

The Single 6x9 Alnico's in the Telefunkens are extremely efficient. and all my effects speakers - even the center channel - are 4 ohms.
