Weller solder station questions.

Blue Shadow

Waiting for Vintage Gear from this century
I recently received a couple Weller irons, the 1201A and a 1302A and am looking for a station to power these. It seems there are a few different ones based on the front panel information on which irons to use.

But are there any stations that will work but do not specifically call out the irons I have? For example will an EC1001 power the 1302a when it is labeled as for the 1201a or 1201p? I don't know how much I would use the 1302 but since I have it I would think a station that could handle either would be good.

I have one of the cheap Stahl stations and have read that a temp controlled unit is much better and would like to make the step up. Thanks for any info on this issue.

This is what I use when I am out of Electronic spray cleaner You can get this at any automotive parts store. It cleans, evaporates real fast and leaves behind no residue

A control station makes an iron a much more versatile tool. I really appreciate the switch & lamp in the base when I am closing up the work bench at nite and realize that I forgot to turn the iron off, again.

The pin out of the 1302 and 1201 irons I have are the same. With the 1201 working with the 1001 base, as Malcolm has stated it might, I'm comfortable with getting a base that will handle the 1201 and using it with the 1302. Same voltage, different resistance for the heating element and both Pt electrodes measure the same at room temp.

The DEC would be a great base to use both irons but I don't think the 1302 will get much use as I don't do much smd work. But for an occasional touch up and such it might be nice to have this iron around what with the low cost. The 1201 will become the workhorse.
