What are you listening to on your Sansui now?

A friend came today from Guadalupe with a Damoiseau and we are having difficulty’s to decide which “system” sounds better …

That looks like it sounds like Heaven in there! Oh and that cartridge - oohh la la. Very much worthy of that phono stage you built in what is certainly the best sounding AU-X11 on the planet!

Mark Lanegan on the SR-838's tonight. Having fun playing mixoligist with different cartridges and albums, and discovering some pairings are resolutely better than others. My recent commitment to a two turntable setup makes the sound appraisals even more fun. Love this.

Jim on an other note the SAS stylus from Jico on the original SV-45 is not far apart from the Hashimoto/PP-300 performance… if you still debating it ;)

Oh yes I am still considering that special stylus for the SV-45. And especially after reading this new endorsement!

Spinning the SR-838 with the 11000-BA2000 combo tonight. Haven't fired up the right channel of the living room in a few weeks. Grand Funk Railroad. Closer to Home. Capitol 1970. Susan Tedeschi on video Strat.

This dude is something else. Songwriter. Musician. Groove Maker. Johnny Blue Skies and the Dark Clouds. Mutiny After Midnight. A High Top Mountain/Atlantic Outpost Release. 2026. I like everything he does. Another great record. Also, the SR-4050C, 7000, ADS L810 combo is currently undefeated in my Sansui soul.

Picked some new to me JBL 4311’s and some new vinyl.

Listening to a new music venture from OJAS Music. The spirit behind this album and artist’s intention really captures why and how I listen to music “the old fashioned way”. Slower with great intention. A ritual experience I can only find with physical media, vinyl the primary format.

In the artist’s words -

“The project grew out of a friendship spanning fifteen years and a shared frustration with the state of contemporary listening. "It's becoming harder and harder to get people to really listen," Muller says. "Everyone's busy, everyone's distracted. The idea of going to a record shop, finding something, sitting down and doing nothing but listening — that's rare now."

Loving the C-2301/B-2301L power combo. SR-838 at the helm still. And the new to me MINT time capsule JBL 4311 monitors. Refining my Sansui Sound.

Röyksopp. Norwegian ambient. Thrilled this finally landed. Fresh from the press in Germany.

I’m a big fan of cerebral music. It started with Pink Floyd many years ago, and continues with music like Boards Of Canada and Röyksopp.

A clean album, sharp needles on the SR-838’s and the C-2301/B/2301L duo fleshing out every single detail, sparkle, depth snd dimension no matter how obvious or subtle.

I’ve been toggling back and forth between the SR-838’s set up with an MC AT-3100XE and an MM SC-45. Both adding their own unique layer to the sound. Sansui rendered music for the psychonaut mind.

Excellent.

The first CD I ever bought was the the Division Bell. Still one of my favorite albums of all time. What confused me, is no name/title on the CD. I was like, how are we suppose to know what CD is what!!!

Leave it to Floyd to make it mysterious! Great album. I saw that tour in Vacouver British Columbia. Favorite show of all time.

While at the test bench last night, I decided to spin up some Slade on the SR-929, routed through my AU-111. The highlight of the listening session was this gem:

Man, these guys were really good. I don't feel like they ever got much traction here in the States, (I do remember them briefly hitting pretty big in the early '80s with the song "Run, Run Away", which I still think is a good listen). They were much bigger in their native England. Which is a shame, really, as they were a talented bunch of chaps. And even if "How Does it Feel?" is atypical of their output, they had a decent number of good tunes.

Then for something completely different, I put on some Cannonball Adderley on CD.
