He was the “ Lord High Sheriff “ and very popular in our community. He had a beautiful Martin D-18 guitar w/pickup, he just couldn’t play it. We would plug it in but the volume was set to zero. We did a lot of charity events, even opened for The Marcy Brothers. He got Merle Haggard and The Strangers to play at the California State Sheriff’s Association convention hosted by our county one year. I got the back stage security gig for that. I did convince the guys who could play to end our shows with Wipe Out!I sympathize. Wonder which bit of the word "waltz" he was having trouble understanding.
Have to admit, listening to music sung in languages I don't understand helps a lot. I don't have to worry about the shite that's being sung about. The voice is just a musical instrument.
Thanks Speedy Back at cha Brother SpeedNice to see ya pop in E

I appreciate what you say, I grew up in the same era. But (obviously) I just love to pull a record off the shelf, look over the presentation, throw it on for a side, read the lyrics and/or liner notes. Of course maintenance is something that has to be considered.
These days too it is so easy do make a digital transfer of a record for portability, I do this too for some albums. All formats have their pros and cons.
Ciao AAWhat you said above is why I won't get rid of my records.Cassettes, meh.
