Just blow away…. Ordered a rare set of drivers on eBay… seller put them in bubble wrap and a loose box. Drivers destroyed… frames bent, coils frozen up. Can’t even re-align them as the frames are so shot it won’t allow for it. Total joke. They were not cheap either, but money aside they totally destroyed a set from 1957. What a total waste of time and money and what a total loss of some special drivers.

I have a small collection of vintage low gain preamp tubes--U's, T's and Y's. My Fender amps love 12AY7's in the first preamp slot rather than the high gain X's and they were impossible to find for many years. All of those folks from the WWII era had tube radios, record players or organs in their garages and attics somewhere. I would buy them for $5 or $10 for their preamp tubes. Power amp tubes don't last as long as preamp tubes which from the 40's--60's lasted forever. Gave away a lot of dusty broken radios in 2004 when we moved. These are my spares. Most of the good ones are in my Fender and Vox amps, and I think there's a Y in my old school Marshall 18 water. U's are used mostly to drive reverbs and tremolos, but I've stuck them in various amps over the years. A 12AU7 in the first slot of a Vox AC15 will make a tele sound like an acoustic, so your observations don't surprise me.

Hard to hit the “like” button on that post….

Watching the game. Buffalo may have just lost it by not getting 6 on their first drive of the 2nd half.

Listening to the 5.1 mix of Drums and Wires by XTC.

I have COVID. My doc prescribed Paxlovid and I had an extreme reaction after my 3rd dose. These vaccines and drugs are extremely powerful. I became seriously ill with anaphylaxis and I have not recovered, but I'll be back soon!

Yikes! I hope you get better soon! Sometimes it seems that the cure is worse than the disease… trust me, I know the feeling.

Ouch. It hurts just looking at that pic. Sorry to hear that.

'Potato Hole' by Booker T. Even though it won the award in 2010 for best Instrumental album it remains one of the best "under the radar" records ever released. Absolute classic instrumental record.

Potato Hole is a 2009 album by Booker T. Jones, recorded with Drive-By Truckers as the backing band and guitar accompaniment by Neil Young.

On January 31, 2010, Potato Hole won the Best Pop Instrumental Album award at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards. The track "Warped Sister" was also nominated, for Best Rock Instrumental Performance, but that award went to Jeff Beck for "A Day in The Life".

Sorry to hear that John! Another incompetent seller of things that can't be replaced! Hopefully they aren't a frequent seller of gear.

I went to a sale today at a local moving and storage company. It was the last day of the sale so didn't expect much.

Turns out I did ok. Grabbed a filthy Onkyo TA-2026 tape deck. Damned if the thing works just fine. I cleaned it up and lubed the capstan, cleaned the heads, belts, and deoxited the record level pot.

Got these tapes.

Also grabbed an Airline tube portable record player. It's still in the trunk. All in for $5, not too bad.

Listening to the Snoop Dog-Doggystyle tape right now on the Onkyo deck.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have had issues with meds for about 10 years now. Z pack is another on my no go list. I think there's just a group of people like me who are gonna react adversely to these powerful meds no matter how safe they are for the population at large. I'm not afraid to try things, but once I start getting hives on my right hand and an itchy throat, I know it's trouble. I do not have an epi pen at the moment which scared the hell out of me Fri. night. The e-room nurse really helped me out over the phone and gave me suggestions of effective antihistamines that most people have around the house. Pepsid--who knew it would help in this situation? I had no idea it was an antihistamine and an effective one at that.

'Gettin Lucky / Head East' by Head East. Two killer album remasters on one disc. God Bless for Hip-O Select putting this out. They were one of my fave independent labels.

Gettin' Lucky by Head East was released in 1977 on A&M Records. Along with Flat as a Pancake and Head East Live!, it is one of their most renowned releases. The album peaked at No. 136 on the Billboard pop albums chart.

This album was re-released together with Head East on CD as a double album.

Rooting for the Cowboys even though I was born in Lodi CA and was a 49ers fan until moving to Denver in the late 60's. My wife and I watched Michael Gallup for 2 years at Colorado State. He was the only thing other than Cam the Ram that kept me attending CSU home games.
