Never used or heard an 8 track before. What did the matchbook (allegedly?) do?

The penny on the tonearm is easy enough to guess, although it sounds like a horrible way to add tracking force!?

As used on record players that make Crosley look like state-of-the-art hifi. Turn the "stylus" thru around 180 degrees to play 78s.

The 8-Track would not track exact....so the matchbook would kind of jack it up and hold it in place tight.

This was a random spin from an estate sale collection I bought. This one surprised me. This was great! Side one I recognized as being used in the United commercials. Loved side too as well!

Just finished ripping today's new arrivals. No Mahler 3 or 9 because I already had the single SACDs before I bought the box set.

That's one of the first ever LPs from 1948.

I think there are a few of these in the collection. There's a Hank Williams and then a 10-in Hank as well.

I had the opportunity to introduce a friend to JLP and this was the one I picked. It's in my vinyl collection....if only I had a functional record player right now, ha ha. It sounded pretty damn great on the WiiM/Yamaha/Magnavox Tubes and Speakers! Happy to inspire anyone to listen to this one!!
