What are your favorite guitar song intros?

So many Zep tunes make the cut. Many already listed and so many more that belong. Also,

Edison’s Medicine - Tesla
Crazy Train - Ozzy
Unchained - VH

I rarely listen to The Smiths anymore, but I still consider Johnny Marr one of the greatest guitarists of all time.

Two excellent intros from his days with The Smiths:

This Charming Man

How Soon Is Now? (someone already posted this because it's fantastic)

Andy Gill's intro for Gang of Four's To Hell With Poverty

Alex Kapranos' intro for Franz Ferdinand's Michael

For a lengthy intro, I always loved what Arctic Monkeys did with the first minute of A Certain Romance.

Lots of Faces numbers such as "Miss Judy's Farm", "Stay with Me", and for a more rootsy number, try "Ooh La La".

A more popular number is "Maggie May", but I like that one for the mandolin break by the guy from Lindisfarne.

Listen to "Intro" to Sweet Jane.

Lou Reed - Rock n' Roll Animal

Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter on guitar.

Listen to it very loud. :music:

That would have been my response. I used it as my intro for a radio program I had a few years ago in Rockland, Maine. Station is WRFR-LP.
