What did you do for Father's Day?

I started off by hanging several pieces of art for my wife. My fault; I saw two beautiful pieces of oriental black lacquered with mother of pearl inlay at a yard sale and had to have them. This resulted in a rearrangement of about 8 other pieces.

I then headed out to the yard to water the flowers and my wife called me back in to ask what the whitish wet splatter was on top of my LP cabinet and our wifi router/modem. I looked up at the ceiling to see water dripping. There's a toilet directly above.

No visible leak around the toilet or supply line. Pulled the toilet to find the wax seal way off center. (Lesson Learned: Vinyl floor installers aren't necessarily good at plumbing work.) So off to Home Depot to get a new seal. On the way through the parking lot a Dad was scolding his daughter for trying to stand up in the shopping cart. I was going to wish him a 'Happy Father's Day' but his day didn't seem to be going any better than mine.

New toilet seal successfully installed, cleaned up the splatter on the wifi router/modem. It still works but this could explain the 'crappy' internet speeds I've been experiencing lately. :rflmao:

Fixed a Monitor Audio woofer that had had its spider ripped completely out, down to the coil. Major surgery…so far, so good. I’m getting an Ohm reading again, just waiting for the glue to set up on the surround again. A replacement was $275, so Happy Fathers Day to me!!!

Edit: Just ran a low volume test, and whoo hoo - working beautifully! Let the glue fully set up tonight, then full-on test tomorrow at volume. Saved myself about 3 bills, and learned a few new skills with this one!

I put up an American Flag on the house that I've always wanted to proudly display, and had a great family dinner with green chile cheese burgers, grilled corn, fries, and baked beans - all with copious chilled refreshments of beer.

It has been a wondrously good day!

Holy hell...that sounds delicious....

Picked my daughter up from my ex-wife around noon. Went to look at some Advent Prodigy speakers for sale that needed refoaming. One woofer tested bad, so I got them for half price. Had a little impromptu picnic under a shady tree just next to the Wawa we stopped at to get lunch. Found a miniature golf place about 10 miles away, and had a round of golf.

Came back home, we both had tea, and I had a 15 minute cat nap on the sofa. Woke up, and she helped me wash the car. Ordered pizza from our favorite place, then did a grocery store run.

My daughters live pretty far away so I don't get to see them much as it is. So the next best thing....I have the grandkids for a week!! They finished up school and are spending time with us. My step son is not the most mechanical person so I decided it was time to teach my 7 yr old grandson how to turn wrenches. Bought him a REAL tool kit and bag to haul them around in. Harbor Freight is a wonderful place! :rflmao:We worked on an ATV my friend from work got for his son. Had my grandson change the carb! It was a great day!!

My wife and I drove 90 minutes each way on Saturday to spend the afternoon with our middle son, his wife, and their two kids. We got to see our granddaughter play soccer and had a pleasant lunch out. Our oldest son came to our house to take care of our elderly dog, so we treated him out to dinner when we got home and had a great time just relaxing and chatting. He treated us out to frozen yogurt before he headed home. Sunday was a work day that included a stop at the Home Depot, touch-up painting on the exterior of the house, and laying four new area rugs over the new hardwood floor and under the sectional sofa in our family room. Our youngest son called that evening to wish me a happy Father's Day. I saw or heard from all three sons and got to see my grandkids, so it was a very good holiday for me.

Had our 2 kids and mother-in-law over for a chicken dinner on Saturday afternoon. Sunday the wife and I rode 22 miles on our bicycles in Northampton Ma.
