What happened to QRX Restore /Vintage stereos

Hi all, this is my first posting, though I’m a long time and very appreciative lurker at audio karma. I thought I should chime in here, as I do have some current information regarding QRX. They are most definitely a going concern, as I just spoke with Davis there last Wednesday afternoon about my AU-999 that they are refurbishing. You should just keep trying the listed number on their site B, I’m sure you’ll reach one of them eventually. I sent them a QRX-8001 and the Au-999 in January. I spoke with Justin a number of times prior to shipping them out there about trading the 8001 (I’m not a quad guy) for a complete restoration of the AU-999, which he was kindly agreeable to. Actually, it was reading kevzep’s comments, and other Sansui enthusiasts here, about the mods to the 999, and the resulting sonic improvement, that motivated me to contact them. Thanks! Needless to say, I am very much looking forward to hearing the 999 after they work their tech mojo on it.

I was wondering if you have gotten your 999 back from the shop and was curious to know your thoughts on the mods.. as I just acquired a 999 recently.. thanks in advance

I have been inside the QRX Restore shop in Eugene, Oregon. The place is loaded with shelves stuffed by vintage gear in various states of repair. It was very impressive to see so much equipment in one small workshop. Justin is running behind in his repair queue. There are at least two employees working there. I've had a piece of gear in his shop since September with a promised turn-around of 8-12 weeks. I contacted him at 16 weeks and he said they are still at least six weeks out from finishing my recap/restore project.I suspect supply-side issues. I told him I will stand down for six weeks and then will expect a call or message. Patience is key when hiring the best during these crazy pandemic days.

The easiest way to post pictures is to use the "Upload a File" 'button' Just to the right of "post reply". Maybe not the best way, but it does work.

Sounds Pretty too! Thanks to QRXrestore. I'm lucky to be within easy driving distance.

Picking up my restored Sansui AU-222 on Monday. Justin says it looks and sounds as good as the day it was born, if not better. So excited to have it returning home, filling that empty space in my audio center once again.

My sansui has been at QRX restore for a year come thanksgiving. 4 months ago he said it was due to part shortage but my latest email from 2 weeks ago has gone unanswered. does anyone know if QRXrestore is still in business? IF so advice for reaching them? They don't pick up the phone.

Hang in there,I just dropped off a AU 10000 on Monday October 17 2022 I contacted them in may to get in the Que and expect the unit back late Jan to fist week in February.
Just keep trying phone them again.I am sure they are swamped and have a backlog of parts on order.
I have have had 8 Sui’s recapped by Justin and Jim over the last 11 years and have had to to be patient they will get it done and done right.

You guys are lucky living nearby qrxrestore.
I bought two units from them a qrx 9001 and a eight deluxe. I always dealt with late Jim (great guy) via email and these are probably the only units they shipped to Africa (back in 2015).

Now I live in the UAE and suffer to find a reputable place to service these units... I guess I'll have to live with their problems for quite sometime

I don't understand how people can excuse such behavior from a business. They don't answer their phone and ignore emails? I'm sorry, but that's shameful and I would never do business with someone who runs their business that way regardless of their reputation.

I recently got my 9090 db back from QRX and was worth the wait. Enjoying it and it’s my first sansui wow great sound my newer amplifier hasn’t been used since and even though in these times shipping to the west coast of Ireland was very expensive overall it’s been worth it. Justin will get back to you but like other folks said here they are probably just busy and takes a little longer to reply.

Im a very satisfied QRX customer. I dont call them. I know they are very busy. Although sometimes takes a couple of days, Justin always respond to my emails. I bet they dont have a clerk answering phone calls. Justifiably so.
