What is te better speaker option?

I have a Sansui au919 that I power my speakers with. My current speakers are a pair of kef 103/4's. The speakers sound great and I bought them for 200 dollars. I have the opportunity to sell those speakers for 350 dollars and replace those speakers with a pair of jamo 7.7 speakers mint. Is that a worthy replacement and a good investment. Thoughts? Has anyone heard these speakers? I feel like the jamos will play on a whole new level

I'm not familiar with either set of speakers but KEF's are generally very nice. I know my pair of IMF's has KEF woofers and they are very impressive. From what I hear about Jamo's they are just okay. Nothing spectacular, but that may be only specific models. I would also say let your ears decide if you can.

I have heard the jamo's, but I have not had a chance to A-B them yet. When the kefs were knew i think they went for 1,199$ and I believe the jamo 7.7's went for 1,999$. Price doesn't matter to me, but my father-in-law is the one that owns the Jamo's so I plan on bringing them over to A-B them and decide based on several different genre's of music. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Either way it will be an upgrade for my home theater system, and I will just decide which pair will stay with my Hi-Fi system

Joe,

No opinion from us can truly convey the experience of hearing a speaker hooked up in your own room, on the end of your own system. That is the input that none of us can provide you with.

Arrange with your father in law for the loan of the Jamos. Then you will have 100% certainty which speaker is the best choice for you.

Good Luck, and let us know the results of your auditioning. :thmbsp:

To touch on what theophile said, keep the speakers in your system for a bit. Make sure what youre hearing is not inherently different, but better. Different can be better, but it can also be worse. Ive seen many a person quickly fall in love with new gear, and fall out of love just as fast.

+1. It's very true. I've gone through that a couple of times with my IMF's. I was in love with the difference in sound, not what the actual sound was like. After I listened to it more, I realized that although they are different they aren't what I really wanted in the end. You will need to listen to them for a good couple of hours before you can really make an informed decision about which one to keep.

Finally have the Jamo 7.7's

Great speaker! They are able to produce way more depth, but in the room I am using the kef's outperform the Jamo's sound stage. overall, I would say I am keeping both sets for a very long time. The jamo's are great for Jazz, Rock, Metal, Punk...However, I also love the Kef's for anything acoustic. PLUS THEY LOOK AWESOME TOGETHER!
