What is the height of the MA 6600?

hi guys,

im thinking of replacing my MA 6900 to an MA 6600.

i have a wooden rack which has only boxes of max. 22,5 cm.

the manual of the MA 6600 says the height is about 20 cm. the McIntosh homepage says 23,97 cm.

what is right?

the MA 6600 seems smaller than the MA 7000 which also has 23,97 cm according to the Mc site........:scratch2:

Not a one. Love it. Have owned 30-odd McIntosh pieces over the past 20 years and it has become my favorite.
 
Like you really need another confirmation but yeah, I measure 19.68. And MX117.MC7150's assessment is pretty much dead on.

what software version is on yours running?

does the 6600 have "jumpers" between the pre and main section, the 6900 have?

The latest firmware is Rev 2.52. If you are purchasing used and do not have (easy to check) you can contact McIntosh Tech Support and they will send you the IC with directions on installing. I'm using a set of Jena Labs jumpers on the back between the pre-out and main-in. Did not hear much difference between them and the factory jumpers, but did not do an extensive A/B listening test, either. I've left them in as it is a pain to get back there and swap in and out. I do not recall if the MA6900 has them, but you can go onto the McIntosh website and open the MA6900 page and check by blowing up the rear-view or opening the owner's manual under 'Resources'. However, having owned an MA6900 I will say that to my ears there is a large difference in the sound between the two. Also, earlier production models of the MA6900 have a small cap that can blow and make the unit inoperative (there is a thread on this you can do a forum search for). Not a big deal, but is not a warranty item at this stage of the game and something that would require service from someone, which can be a PITA on something the size of an MA6900.
 
i have also the factory jumpers replaced on my MA 6900.
i use Audioquest jumpers on my 2010 model!

my amp must be one of the latest. the 6900 now isn't listed on the new McIntosh site.
