What is the worst food you ever tasted?

for those who dont like coconut water. you should try the real thing, not the stuff they sell in bottles.

the stuff you buy in the cartons taste nothing like the real deal.

Was listening to Garrison Keillor poke fun at Lutefisk on his show the other day. Lots of folks seem to think it's pretty awful stuff. I used to love the Portuguese version, Bacalau; would seek out the little hole-in-the-wall restaurants in Lisboa that had the dried cod hanging in the window. Good stuff.

I once had an anchovy stowaway onto a pepperoni pizza that I ordered. I almost went back and burned down that pizzeria!! Ick.

That conjures up an image of blood sizzling on an iron skillet.
Feeling a little green at the moment.

They taste like chicken. To me, anyway.

They do. Kind of disappointing in that way. rabbit also kind of tastes like chicken...

I heard people do too....

There's a bit of wildernes and sweetness to rabbit and froglegs that not anyone like.
Same thing with lizards and snakes they say.

There's a reason lots of folks seem to think it's pretty awful, because it is. I can pretty much eat anything, but even the smell of this makes me gag. I've never seen the Portuguese version, but hopefully it's better than the Minnesota version. It can't possibly be worse.

All these foods mentioned here are no match for Andrew Zimmern of the Travel channel "Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern" That guy eats anything in front of him, myself if I see food that looks strange I will not touch it. I am happy with rice and beans and Korean ramyon.

As a kid on a N Fla farm, frogs, gator, snakes, rabbit, softshell turtle,no problem. But those steaming bowls of scrambled eggs and brains, no way. Also my grandfather loved fried mullet roe. It tasted like leftover bait from the bilge.

How many of these dishes will be featured at YOUR Thanksgiving table?

Well if your asking me, NONE that I can think of and I don't even want to think about it. But, if I have to, I'm guessing Brussels Sprout may be the only one that stand much of a chance to appear on anyone's menu come Thursday. Vile little things.

I seriously doubt that a dried cod has ANYTHING in common with cod pickled in lye.

It's fish Jello. I'm just not even going to try.

I really tried to do rocky mountain oysters, but couldn't.

Fried green tomato (the nice dripping greasy half ass cold kind that I got roped into eating once). Seriously...WTF?!?

Crab cakes, again the nice greasy half ass cold ones.

For most of my life I thought I hated tuna fish. Had to eat tuna fish sandwich once, in ND. The idiots back there think Miracle Whip is mayonnaise (I thought I hated mayonnaise until I figured out WTF they are doing). I love mayo and hate Miracle Whip.

I do not know about outside ND, but IF you are ever there and eat anything that is supposed to have mayonnaise in it, ASK THEM WHAT THEY USE.

Oh, and I hate quiche. Can't enjoy Lefsa, my mind keeps telling my tongue to expect tortilla shell.

Cooking with Cream of mushroom soup is an evil thing too.

Beef Tongue, This stuff always grossed me out when I saw it in the store when I was a kid. I've never had any and I probably never will.

I ate beef tongue once . . . under extreme duress. We were visiting some country cousins on the back side of eastern Arkansas; near Palestine, I think. They served something I didn't recognize. One of Mom's uncles told me it was "cow tongue." Mom said she would personally kill me if I did not eat it, so I did. Never again. It didn't taste that bad, but I don't need to eat a cow tongue to do a passable moo.

Other things I simply cannot eat: boiled okra and jello, for the same reason. I cannot eat things that slide down before I swallow. Nothing wrong with the taste, but the texture makes me want to ralph.

The worst thing I've ever eaten: rubarb pie. My best friends mom is from southern Minnesooooota. She's a good cook, but the rubarb pie was just bad. BF said that was because you couldn't buy good fresh rubarb in south Arkansas (in the early 70's).

Funny..when I was a kid I would ask my mom to cut a few inches off the tip and run around the house all Gene Simmons....

that looks digusting!:sigh: as a kid my parents tried to trick me and my sisters into trying the dreaded tongue we all hated it! yucky texture!:sigh::sigh::sigh::sigh:

Anything involving mushrooms. I hate the taste, the smell, and the texture. Instant rejection.

I've never eaten oysters, but my mom used to make oyster stew for her ex husband. It stunk so bad that I want no parts of it. I could smell that stuff outside the house.

I also can't eat tomatoes. I love things made from them, but the texture is just vile. I leave the chunks of tomato in salsa on the plate, I pick out the chunks from marinara sauce.
