PLUS 3000 SEMI AUTOMATIC DD TURNTABLE [MATSUSHITA/TECHNICS]

As the above description states - same corp as Technics. Parent corp based on what I could find.

It states the innards of this table are all Technics and it was made for The Bay and thus holds the Baycrest name.

But some say this is also much like many Pioneer tables - it does look a little like the PL 255 or PL 300.

Anyone know anything about this table? Specs? Similar in quality to anything in the Technics or Pioneer line-up?

Apparently it has a carbon fibre arm - all functions work as they should.

It's a 1 owner table and mint with an ADC Silver cartridge with matching ADC 341 LM stylus - almost new. I don't know anything about this cart/stylus either?

I am considering it as an lp test table only - essentially not for listening otherwise. Go for it if cheap enough or stay away?

Thank-you for your time.

Wow, it looks exactly like my Hitachi HT-40S. Do a Google image search and you'll see the resemblance right away. It's not a Technics.

I don't know about a carbon fiber arm, but in later models Hitachi did come up with a treatment for metal that created fissures which acted to damp vibrations in the stainless steel (!) arm tube, so they were aware of the need to damp vibrations there. But who knows, your arm tube could be carbon fiber. The HT-40S arm is definitely plastic-- whether it's fiber-reinforced, I don't know, though I'd guess it's likely glass fiber if it is.

The ADC cartridge is a private-label job. Without a closer look at it, my guess is it's likely to be a clone of one of ADC's QLM series, which could be very good.

If it's got Hitachi's patented Unitorque motor and it's cheap enough, sure, go for it. It's a good basic table.

Shore does! and if you can get an ohmmeter on that cartridge, we can find out which styli will sound best on it, and then hope we can find original examples of them.

EDIT: Turns out the Baycrest Plus 3200 was a clone of my Hitachi HT-50S !

Not a Technics, either CEC/Chuo Denki or Fujiya Audio made in Japan. Not a bad turntable by any means, reasonably good it is. Worth what you paid for it.

Well, I went and had a look and an audition and grabbed the TT - it was absolutely mint - the deck doesn't have a scratch, smudge or anything and the cover is clear - not even swirls! One little squiggly on the back left which can't be seen with the cover down.

Performs as it should - all functions work and speed is great.

The cart is also immaculate and lots of life left on the stylus.

All in all it sounds pretty darn good for the price and for what it is.

For play testing "new" shipments of lp's it will definitely do the trick.
The fact that it doesn't have a known and/or big name on it doesn't bother me in the least.

Thanks for your help all!!

Much appreciated.
