Looks and 2 channel performance: SX-1280
Excellent Surround Performance, very musical too, not as nice looking: VSX-45TX

My favorite would have to be the SX-838, but I can only base that upon the experience of two of the better known SX series (SX-727, 838). I still regret giving it up, but ah well, it made my friend happy for a week before he blew it up. Well, I still think it isn't too attractive and I disliked the selector buttons, but the sound, ah the sound was incredible.

does anyone else think that the x3x series should have had output vu's that match match their displays like the x80 series did or am I crazy.

the blue face of a 939 with the jumping output vu's would have been the perfect look for me

So far i have to say it's the SX-850. But then again, I have only owned 4 Pioneer receivers. My electronics genius friend owns a 1250 but it has been sitting in his basement not hooked up for 10 years or so and that is when i heard it last. And no, he wont get rid of it.

I think out of all my vintage Pioneer receivers my little SX 636 in my favorite . Has only 25 wpc but I love it's sound and blue dial looks.

Today the sx-5590/1250 is my current favorite, but I also like meters, so wait for the 1280 or 1980...

My vote is for the SX-950. It doesn't have the power of the SX-1050/1080 or SX-1250/1280, but it still has outstanding sound, looks and build quality.

I have to side with Sansui Lou, the SX-424. I saved up from mowing lawns and working as a dish washer to buy mine out of a "dealer" selling out of a walkout basement for the discount price of $119.00. Dear 'ole mom drove me across the city to get it when I was 13 or 14. I used it with some dual cone 8 inch Utah's in wood shop plywood cabinets. I will have to buy one again some day. And get my dream within reason speakers at that time, Baby Advents ! I have the Dual 1209 !!! lol

SX-D7000 :thmbsp: :thmbsp:
A mix of SA-9800 and TX-D1000 in one case.
And with more Power, more features ...

SX-1980 is no Reciever - its a monster :D

SX-1250! :boink: Listening to her even now :smoke: (I should add that it is the only Pioneer I have at this time which kinda helps to make it "my favorite")

Well, I would have to say , for the past month or so , my Fav. Pioneer receiver would have to be my SX-828 which I found Aug, 6th at my local Elks Club Bizzar Rummage Sale for $10.00 (IN A STILL SEALED SX-828 BOX) My god, Talk about elevated heart rate ! Got it home , opened the box and everything intact, Like new. Whoa ! But the aroma/smell that came from that newly opened box was better than ANY perfume EVER ! I'm new here and feel as though I'm among those who know. But am I in trouble here ??? As I've got a few Pioneer Receivers & Turntables & 2 or 3 Tape decks......Whew !
