What Record Are You Hearing Now?

Pink Floyd - The Wall, first German Harvest copy, you take a hit on UK, but used the same metalworks, and often had superior vinyl formula. Great record.

From about 1984 onwards, the quality of vinyl pressed by EMI (and all the smaller companies they gobbled up (Mercury, Fontana, London Records, MCA and many more) took a serious nosedive. That's why these days if I'm looking for an album on one of those labels from that era, I go for the German or Dutch pressing. Much better quality vinyl was used. :beatnik:

Absolutely 100% agree, so often they're a superior sound to the UK originals, and the price is literally a tenth of a UK copy. No brainer IMHO. I'd love to own a blue triangle DSOTM, but very happy with my German Quad edition.

People are cottoning onto this though, and the UK copies are becoming inaccessible, so I think the German OG's will start to rise in price in the coming years.

Japan is seriously killing it with some new releases coming out, their vinyl quality definitely seems to be the best in the business for "standard" copies, but even then, a standard japanese press tends to be far higher quality than a general copy with proper anti static inners, obi's and the covers.

Crosby, Stills, & Nash, on the MoFi Ultradisc One-Step edition Supervinyl. This has never sounded better...to me.

This post inspired me to look on the Mobil Fidelity Sound Labs website and seek out this recording. Always was a big fan of CSN,, moreso before they took in Neil Young, having never been a fan. David Crosby had his issues... but, his voice and harmonies were superb...

Thank you for posting..
