What small speaker has surprised you with bass output?

I have 2 entries.

First-

Boston Acoustics CR85

Oddball 7" woofer

Enclosure type Bass-reflex
Frequency response ± 3dB 48 - 20000 Hz
Nominal impedance 8 Ohm
Amplifier Requirements 15 -125 W
Sensitivity (2.83V/1m) 90 dB

I have these hooked to a Sony 120 WPC receiver and they sound GREAT.

Second-

Onkyo D-N3XA

70W and 60-35KHz- from a 5" woofer.

I just put them in my car (they are 5 ohm, so not terrible mismatch).

Let's just say I'm very impressed. I'm running a Pioneer 25WPC head unit and these things sound sweet.

Clear and crisp with very good low end.

Canton Plus S

It's not that they have a lot of bass, but compared with all the others this size like the Minimus 7, ADSL200, etc these Cantons absolutely rock.

That is interesting. However, my Sansui 990DB (black faceplate) is hooked on 901/III which is perhaps a better combination. This rises a question (I am absolutely not a technical guy) - may small high quality speakers sound worse with (too?) big amps than with moderate powered amps? My Rogers play with a 40 WPC Pioneer SA740 very nicely.

I going to send you a PM about your 901s as I don’t want to highjack this thread.

B&W 686. Good bottom end for a 5 1/2” woofer.
Nothing, however replaces displacement.
Nobody gets my modded and recapped 12” Infinity RSM 3 ways.

AR 17, Allison Acoustics 110...shaking and filling 40sqm no sweat, clean, smooth, deep bass. Those guys from AR knew their business...Fanboy here for life.

It is really surprise to see what those small humble boxes can do when you hit the right track.

Ah, one more thing, much of that goodnes and smoothnes is courtesy of Sansui amp that supply the sweet sweet juice
