What speaker and amplifier pairs have you found to have great synergy?

There's so much audio gear out there, more each year as time goes on. And therefore, so many different combinations that can be made between them.

When you get right down to it, the pairing of amplifiers and speakers would probably be the most important part of the system to match, correct? Given this... what speaker/amplifier combinations have you found to hit great synergy together? And treat amplifier as anything that amplifies a source (amp, integrated amp, receiver).

For me, I've found that a Sansui AU-719 drives Canton Ergo Passiv's very well. I'm pleased with the combination for most everything that I've thrown at it via tuner, CDP, and TT.

Please feel free to add anything that comes to mind... or link to previous threads that touch on this (haven't found any myself). Or... perhaps I'm heading down a worthless path of inquiry? Would any good quality amplifier paired with speakers having musicality that you like sound great together?

I'm so not audiophile and find this synergy theory pretty much inapplicable to my experiences so far.

My Realistic Nova 8's and my Pioneer SX-780 Receiver just seem to go together perfectly.

10 watt tube amps on efficient speakers, 100 watt solid state amps on in-efficient speakers, and vice-versa. Keep mixing and matching, it's fun!

The essential third link in the chain is your ears; swoping them about isn't really practical.

my Optimus 5's work well with my Yamaha CR-620 I got this past week. I had these speakers hooked up to a Pioneer 535, but the sound was never right.

My JBL 4312's and just about anything.

Currently attached to a Sansui 8080DB receiver but have used Pioneer SA series amps in the past with good results.

Pioneer SA-9800 amp and old B&W DM2 transmission speakers works well (for me)

Pioneer A-400 integrated (not sure if they were sold in the USA) ... with mission 753 speakers or Mission 751 freedom bookshelf speakers

I'm just an open minded music loving hobbyist who knows that synergy is everything. Acurus amps and Magnaplaner speakers are a great Combo. IMHO

Advent 300 receiver with Klipsch La Scalas. The Advent did a nice job taming the high end on the La Scalas.

Pioneer SX-838 and Altec Santana IIs. Great combo for classic rock and blues.

My current set up is a Kenwood Basic C1 pre controlling a Denon PMA-900V powering Polk SDA-1Bs. This combo sounds good on anything I throw at it.

The best in my system is a set of Fritz Fe 167E fullrangers and a Monarchy 70 pro, 25wpc Class A amp. A Marsh Hybrid pre is the conductor.

I have a couple of combos I like best. (I also have more gear than I need.)
Pioneer SX-780 and JBL-L40s
LM3875 Chip amp and FE127 Fonkens

A classic combo is the Yamaha B-2 amp driving a pair of Yamaha NS-1000(M), the V-FET's are known to take out any harshnes of the Yamaha Berylium tweeters and make them sing like... well what ever you are playing.

My JBL 4312's and just about anything.

Currently attached to a Sansui 8080DB receiver but have used Pioneer SA series amps in the past with good results.

My L-100s used to sound great with my SA-9100. Currently, my 4311s work very well with my Crown PSL-2/PS-400 setup.

But my HPM-100s sound much better with a Pioneer SX-828 than they did with the Crown gear! :scratch2:

I really like the pairing of my Pioneer SA-6700 with KLH Model 17's. The SA-9100 / HPM 100 combo is really sweet too. (I miss my 9100, gotta get it fixed!)

Two that come to mind.

B@K ST-140 mono block amps with B@K Pro 5 pre going into Dahlquist DQ-10s sounds magic.

Sansui Au-7900 going into my JBL Apollos- unbelievable sound!

I would have to say that Sansui and JBL gear tend to have great synergy with each other, period.

I almost posted a similiar thread with the same question. My Nikko Beta III and Boston Acoustics A400's have a great synergy . Understand I am running in other application's Accuphase E202 and P300 and the Nikko/BA combo sounds better. All though not in the same rooms and acoustic issues might be playing a part in this but man the Niiko/BA sound great

My second system in my den is powered by a nice little Pioneer SX-636. I had it hooked to some Dahlquist speakers and then to a pair of Aztec's. Both sounded nice, but nothing special. But then I mated the receiver to a pair of JBL 4408's and was stunned at the sound. I swapped out the SX-636 for a Yamaha CR-640 and a Sansui 771, and the sound was good, but no where near the synergy with the SX-636. The 636 is back in the system and I don't think I'll break it and the 4408's up again.

So far I have tested these with wonderful results:

Surprisingly, my JBL 2600s are a great match with my Philips FW768P receiver in my HT setup. Great sound in movies & listening to CD channels on Dish Network.

Sony TA-F4A integrated amplifier with Polk 7B speakers.
Wonderful smooth sound, especially for jazz & funky r&b tunes.
Will swap with AR5 speakers someday soon.

MCS 3275 receiver with AR3a speakers. I like this combo very much.

Sherwood S-8900A receiver with AR5 speakers. Truly my best sounding combo.

When I get my S-8900A repaired, I will then connect it to the AR3as to find out how good they sound.
