What type of capacitor is this and is it worth changing out?

working on my Marantz 1120 and it is filled with these small green capacitors.

What type of capacitor is that and would changing them out with a modern equivalent be a good idea?

Looks like silver mica commonly used in that day. WIMA films are more linear, but could change the tonal balance.

The brown ones are silvered mica, the green ones are probably polyester(Mylar), similar to Orange Drops only green and different manufacturer.

Agree.

WIMA or Panasonic metalized polyester or polypropylene (film caps) should work well for the green ones.

Mica replacements for the brown ones will be more expensive. A suitable, lower cost replacement would be MLCC (modern ceramic caps) with CG0 N0P dielectric.

One question: what is the orange stripe all about on the green ones? Ceramic, mica and even film caps should not be polarized and therefore no need for a "this end is x" marking.

Okay thanks, I’ll probably just keep the mylar in. I was already planning on keeping the silver mica in. I’m guessing if I replace all of the mylar ones with polypropylene that it would be an improvement??? I know that’s subjective, but thoughts?

My suggestion would be to get answers like this from the resident cap expert here on AK, @ConradH

Greetings;
W/magnification I read +/-5% and see a show room pic. :D But are there issues in performance? But conradh might have tested some.. (wouldn't doubt it) but 5% is a good indication.. if issues show us some pics of the solder side if easy no spring chicken and old solder doesn't get younger.

btw.. that board some how reminds me of Cattle grazing with calfs.. under mag. just don't start a $tampede just yet.
