What unobtainable (to you) gear do you desire?

I'm just curious, what gear do you all wish you could get but simply cannot - either due to the price, rarity (Unobtainium), or for practical reasons.

For me, I'd say an Accuphase power amp. There's probably no one here who'd turn down McIntosh gear (Myself included), but Accuphase doesn't seem to receive the same amount of attention despite having an arguably similar reputation for high quality high priced equipment and for me the amps are simply beautiful. I could never afford the kind of money these things go for, but some day I'd love to have one if not solely for the eye candy. This amp here, this is a work of art in my eyes

I also really like the industrial looks of the old '70s Rotel gear - the Rotel RB-5000 or the Power amp is simply a monster of an amp at 500 watts per channel, however it's basically unobtainium.

Please post pics of your desired unobtainable gear so we may also

A Rega P5 and a better integrated amplifier then my Marantz 2275 receiver.

I'd like an old Luxman M-05 Class-A amp or Yamaha BX-1 monoblocks. Scarcity and timing are my obstacles, though budget isn't easy to swing either.

A pair of Yamaha MX-10000s. Only a couple of hundred made and only seen reference to one ever resold. :sigh:

Also, a Curtis Mathes AG2A23C. In 35 years of looking I've encountered two and owners said "not at any price. Not for sale".

(Otherwise, I'm making good progress on my shopping list. )

I'd like a record cutting lathe. No practical use for it, no space for it and certainly no budget for it, but it would be a really cool thing to have! Naturally I'd want the record press to go with it.

Yamaha NSX 10000. Not likely to see any for sale around here... And $$$ would be a problem I'm sure even if some did pop up.

Even the NS 2000 I'd "settle" for (right - be thrilled to find is more like it) will be hard to afford.

A pair of IMF SACM's:

As for an amp, no idea, I would want to go tube gear and the SACM's require a lot of juice to get going (80-82db efficiency), so the best set of monoblock tube amplifiers money and rarity can offer. I've heard there are some big huge Harman Kardon tube monoblock amps that are very powerful, maybe those, but I have no idea what the model number is.

A pair of Tannoy Westminster Royal SE speakers. Someday I hope to have a pair. But I don't see them in my budget for many years.

Nothing, really. I'm happy with my modest but high quality collection. that said, I won't pass up a bargain AND I would love a Marantz 2270 receiver - not because it's so good, although it is, but because it's so damned gorgeous. And I would hook it up to a nice pair of vintage Tannoy or Altec speakers. I made a bid at an estate sale for a pair of Altec VOT speakers but lost. I guess it's for the best 'cuz they are pretty big and my house is pretty small.

I would love to get my hands on a nice Leica M3 but that's another forum......(Like I need another film camera!)

Your are so right on the Accuphase gear. I have an E202 - a beautiful piece even if it is a little wonky. Getting it refurbed this summer.
I suppose that a Sony PS-X9 t/t for me would be nirvana - I did locate one overseas, but the shipping is just off the scale.
In the meantime I make do with my little collection of bits and bobs and spend my spare cash on all the vinyl I can get ahold of.

Oh yesssss... What a piece of eye-candy for the cave.

Shindo Petrus preamp (MC/MM capable), Shindo Western Electric 300B Single Ended Limited Mono Block Amplifiers, Goldmund Reference II turntable, Goldmund T8 straight-line tone arm, ZYX Diamond cart (copper, silver or gold?), Goldmund Eidos Reference Blue universal player, and to put the icing on the cake, mbl 101E Radialstrahler omni-directional loudspeakers. This could only ever happen if I'd win the lottery or inherit a bundle and a half.
