Where to get paint (Glasurit, Dupont, Sherwin Williams) from vintage color code?

Where is the best place (or any place?? :dunno:) to get automotive paint from vintage color codes?

My brother is trying to have his 1966 Sunbeam Tiger repainted in its original "Commodore Blue", but he and his painter haven't been able to find paint despite having the codes (Dupont 8435L, Glasurit RTS-106, Sherwin Williams 824). He is looking for "correct" single stage paint rather than two-stage with clear coat.

If anybody can recommend a source for paint from vintage codes, we would very much appreciate it.

This source shows the original paint codes: https://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcoded ... ore%20Blue

have you tried sherwin williams specifically? I used to get all my paints (aint painted a car in decades) from them, single stage ackrylid acrylic enamel? the website seems to indicate it might still be available in spirit if not name

I would have said paintscratch.com, but I just looked, they have nothing for Rootes or Sunbeam under the 1966 year.

Thanks -- I've used paintscratch in the past and had good experiences with them, but as you say, no match on this paint.

Thanks -- I did look at Dupont and Glasurit websites, but was less familiar with Sherwin Williams automotive paint. I checked their website, and (like the others) they don't seem to have any way to enter vintage color code. Their OE color finder is pretty weird (https://www.sw-rodandrestocustomcol...h-oe-classic&feature=solid-color&#welcomeInfo) -- doesn't really allow you to enter a code or color name, just a color wheel and you are supposed to find a match? :dunno:

What's crazy is that Sherwin Williams is running a TV commercial currently that shows the color chip for Commodore Blue for interior/exterior paint. It is not the same Commodore Blue, obviously, but pretty crazy coincidence that they are running that TV ad.

It looks like he's found a large enough sample of original paint as they've pulled apart the car to be able to scan a match, so hopefully they will have a solution. Still interest in hearing about a source if they

Tamco can mix it in SS and it's $300 a gallon kit. Tamco makes really great products, I've been using them for a few years now and they compare to all the high end paints at a lower price. I've also had zero complaints about their products and I've sprayed them all over 35+ years.

I did look at their website when I saw your post -- but it doesn't sound like they mix OE colors based on their web page for single-stage paint (https://tamcopaint.com/collections/single-stange-basecoat-paint)

Yes they do. "If you would like to customize a color for the AG900 Series Single Stage. You will now need to call us at (800) 678-1533 #5." I already have asked them and they can mix it. They match OEM colors for me quite often.

Awesome! Thanks. My brother will be calling them in a few minutes.
