Which TU-XXXX for new AU-9500?

I am picking a recently serviced AU-9500 later today and would like to find a "tuna" to mate up well with it.
I realize that the TU-9500 is the natural mate, but in the event of not finding a really nice one, what others are as equal as possible?
I'm thinking a TU-717, etc....

I've never played with an AU-9500 so I am looking forward to a Friday night of playing my favorite LP's through it and find how it compares sound wise to my G-7700 with my newly refurbed EPI M400's (refoamed, rewired, and Claritycap SA's). I've been using my NAD PP2i phono stage via line level input on the G-7700 as my Thorens 150 has a Van De Hul MC cartridge, so I plan on doing the same with the AU-9500.

Any inputs and opinions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks Al. Wise

Try a TU 7500, it's not quite as wide as the 9500, but the knobs etc. have the same look, and it's a solid performer.

While it's certainly nice to look at the roundie tu666 is only a 3 gang tuner. The 9500 deserves something better than that. I would try to find at least a 4 gang tuner from the same au 4 digit series.

Thanks for all of the advice.
I will scour the usual places, but I hope that one may turn up on Bartertown.
My second choice would be Audiogon.
I'm picking up the AU-9500 in a couple of hours.

I would look for a TU 7500 like the poster stated above. First congrats on the 9500. I scored a 8500 that I paired with a TU 7500 and it is a great bedroom setup. I then had to have the AU/TU 9500 combo. I drove about 5 hours each way to get it. I am so glad I did I would do it again in a heartbeat. I like the 9500 the best of any amp ever and I mean ever. The 7500 you can pick up for a fair price and the looks match well. Then later you can find a TU 9500 for your 9500 amp and use the TU 7500 for a new 7500 amp some day. Enjoy and if you ever get tired of the 9500 I know there are plenty of us that would take it off your hands. :music:

I loaded the AU-9500 in my car this afternoon, and boy does it look nice.
There's not a mark anywhere.
It just had a full service by a local tech.
I can't wait to get it home soon and hook it up.
I will be mixing wine with vinyl tonight.

Thanks, Al. Wise

I own a TU-7500 and I'm going suggest the same thing.

The TU-666 is awesome too, but personally I think it fits a 555 or other smaller integrated much better.

I'll also suggest the TU-7500.
Mine goes very well with the AU-9500. (Look Below)

That does look very nice indeed.
I was able to locate a TU-9500 over the weekend and should have by the end of this week. It needs to have the selector knob replaced as the one on it is not the original. I will go through the TU with the usual DEXOIT treatment and residue free contact spray as outlined in the sticky on the "Tuner" forum.

Now I need to start a new thread dealing with the problem that just cropped up last night with my new AU-9500. There is now harsh noise coming from the left channel. Oh well, thus is the hobby of vintage equipment.

Thanks, Al. Wise

I think the tu-9500 is very underrated. I've complained about mine in the past but I think I just didn't understand the voicing. First it pulls channels really great, I dig the look. It can be a tad bass heavy and at least mine doesnt' have that severely airy spatial quality, or it might but is anchored by the thick meaty bass.
