Found very little on the net about "Coda" speakers. Strange looking white van speakers ?

Probably white van. Most electronics engineers know that the heatsink fins are supposed to be vertical on an amplifier for the best (convection) surface to air transfer.

Just like it sounds but, much worse:thumbsdn: predators who sell speakers out of vans, most vans are white in color, offer you a deal to good to be true, speakers are CRAP and may damage your equiptment to boot. do a search under white van speakers as there are to many brand names for me to remember or list here! Bottom line if it sounds to good to be true, it is:yes: why would you buy anything out of a van?!?

White Van speakers: Speaker scam based on deceit as selling tool. Dependent on gullibility, greed, and psychology of a sucker born every minute.

Saying speakers are MSRP $1800-$3000 to make you think you are getting a good deal. Originated when they used to sell out of white vans in parking lots and on the road. They have migrated to craigslist, eBay. Sometimes they make up names to sound like legitimate existing companies or brands. Kirsch -> Klipsch (legitimate), Paradyme -> Paradigm (legitimate), etc.

I suspect the Koda name in the above listing is supposed to confuse people to think of KEF Coda which is a legitimate brand model. But if you can't find anything on it, better to spend the same amount of money on recognized brands. Actually some of these scam speakers like Kirsch have now made up websites to support their scams.

Notice they are almost always new complete with strapping tape and never used except to take pictures. They're extra, a gift, or just don't have the room to put them. They just can't find a use for $3000 speakers? :scratch2:

Theater Research is a big white van brand. I know a guy who paid $400 for a pair, then was ashamed that he'd been had he donated them to a non profit.

This made him feel better? They just turn around and sell them to someone else And the karma keeps piling up!! Sorry about your friend but, he should have taken the hit, lesson learned, hide the kids and dogs, taken them(speakers) outside and plugged them into the outdoor electrical outlet and KaBom do a little and said Thank You, Lordy, I feel better now:thmbsp:

I don't think it made him feel better, he wanted to get them out of the house before his wife came home a couple days later Apparently they "looked pretty nice" :yes:yeah sure I think you're right though, theres nothing like a little shotgun therapy

maybe the non-profit actually used them. in which case, it was a nice gesture. i'm sure a non profit doesn't care that they were white van....

The white van gypsy folk got a buddy of mine for 400$$$ on their home theatre set. I searched online when he told me the brand name and I had the unfortunate task of telling him he got screwed. He didnt believe me until he got it set up and heard how god awful it sounds. He must have drove around the area looking for the white van for 2-3 days before surrendering... Good thing he never found them, they would probably still be in physical therapy!
