Will KA 9100 come out of protection with a bad output module?

Looking for a definitive answer... Checked the archive and I am still not sure.

My KA 9100 (which had previously been fine) came out of mothballs a long while back and suddenly was missing a channel. I'm back at it now.

Is it true that a blown output module will cause the KA 9100 to stay in protection? I am getting good signal from channel, nothing from the other. If so, I have some other problem that I have not been able to locate yet.

Can anyone definitively answer this question? Thanks el mucho.

it depends on how it is bad .. ..you need to be checking signal going in to the module for starters .
i wouldn't suspect a module going bad from being idle .i would first suspect switches and pots. so best to clean them first .

I know the meters do run. They obviously only measure the input signal and are calibrated to what the output ought to be.

I have full signal in the headphones too.

I checked continuity on the + side of A and B speaker terminals. When the selector is A+B shouldn't I see a connection there? Funny, it is same on both sides.

some amps connect a+b in series ..others a+b in parallel ..so you use 2 speakers in a or if using 4 speakers obviously a and b ..if using just b for 2 it wont work .

Combo platter: 1) It is true that speaker select switches can need cleaned. 2) Always check those pesky push buttons, even if you recently cleaned them. 3) I am a freakin' idiot. I got confused part of the time with the A-B row and the L-R row. The three conspired to convince me a channel was dead.

That said, the speaker terminals on this unit suck for such an otherwise nice build quality.

Regretably, I would have to say yes. I swapped out the "best" little plastic knurled knobs from the speaker teminals to make one set that worked reasonably well. At that point, I crossed up A-B with L-R and cleaning did not matter any more. Realizing my error, I was able to detect a faint signal on the "dead" side. Then it was a matter of DeOxit and WD40.
