Will linear tracking TT damage my records?

A properly functioning linear shouldn't hurt your records at all. An IMPROPERLY functioning one (e.g., worn-out parts on a Rabco arm, improper setup, or defective servo drive) presumably could beat the stuffin' out of one's precious vinyl :-(
I use a linear tt (b&o TX-2) and I hear no mistracking distortion anywhere (even inner grooves), and MOST of the previously-mistracked (i.e., chewed-up) used vinyl I have sounds better (& is at least listenable) on the b&o than on the swingin' arm Philips it replaced in my 'main' hi-fi. Of course, different stylus size or geometry can help with this, too.
The worst drawback of the b&o is that it has very little vertical arm travel, so it's incapable of tracking even a slightly warped record.
