Will these be the finest sounding speakers ever out of Canada ?

I decided not to renew the Ferro fluid in my energy Veritas 2.8’s, it just looked past my pay grade .
I replaced fluid in other tweeters but these were glued together and I even broke a lead on midrange so I looked to see who can.
I think there were maybe two in the USA I’d trust but I went with the most $ option- Christoper Coote of abitech .
To be fair , one reason for the cost is shipping and customs , that’s around $200 right there!
He has experience and training and claims he can make them sound better than new. He also has the same fluid used oem.
He sent back pics- both had burnt caked fluid , one done was partially detached from the cotton suspension .
He said he would replace them with spare domes he had.
They’re now done and will be shipped out tomorrow.
So, I will have energy Veritas 2.8 with perfect tweeters, triamped with three nad 208thx power amps , connected with 10g sliver played copper wire, connected to a Emotiva xsp1gen2 preamp with xlr cables .
Could these Canada’s finest speakers ? Hopefully, I’ll find out next week!

I heard these speakers need a lot of power, hopefully 750wpc into 4 ohms, will be enough.
Then again , I could find three more NAD 208’s, bridge them to get 1500wpc

I'm sure your NADs will be fine. Just don't twist them to eleven then walk away to wash the car outside.

Got them back from Chris Coote.
First, anyone considering buying a pair of 2.8’a shouldn’t buy them unless Chris can rebuild the tweeters ( he has in the past dissapeared for s few years.
Otherwise , at best you have ticking sonic bomb.
Even if they sound fine and seller waxes about how awesome they are, tick tick tick !
The ferrofluid in them is the culprit . It has a life of 10-15 years , these spears are 30-35 years old, you do the math.
I thought they sounded fine when I bought them four years ago, listen to them about twice a week and low levels , then I noticed that no matter how I turned up the treble , the highs were low.
Chris charges flat rate of $400 Canadian per pair of energy tweeters, doesn’t matter what they need , it’s still $400. He also uses a ferro fluid that is unique to energy , to maintain sound . He says he uses special procedures to make them sound better than new .
It cost me about $140 to have the usps ship the modules to Canada, another $130 or so to have them sent back and yes, I did have to pay some Canadian duties even though they were made in Canada ( grumble grumble ).
Took two weeks for them to get to Canada , clear customs and arrive in his P.O. Box.
Another two weeks for him to inspect .
He said that both tweeters had bad heat damage to the coils . The ferrofluid dried up, coils were now in self destruct mode. One dome was separating from the surround . He said he was pretty sure had some nos replacement domes in the warehouse ( like how rare are those?)
Three weeks later, he sent PayPal invoice .
Despite replacing both domes , price was still $400. He included the old domes in shipment .
Packaged was delayed by our crappy usps but I got them two days ago.
They sound fantastic , I think I might like them even better than the acoustat 2+2 next to them.
So, in summary, well worth it. Anyone who has Veritas 2.8 speakers should get this service done , Chris is probably in his mid 60’s by now , get it done while you can .
If you’re considering buying a pair , factor in getting them serviced otherwise , don’t buy them .

Before ordering my 2009 Energy Reference Connoisseur towers I talked to a fellow at Energy. I asked them if they would sound better then my 1980 Energy Pro-22 Monitor's. He said no.

The only speaker they made that compared with their Pro-22's was the Veritas towers. IMO the Veritas line of Energy speakers is not only one of the best speakers out of Canada, But one of the best speakers period if you looking for a transparent speaker.

When I compared my new RC30 towers with the Pro-22's with my AVR, They sounded close. But with my Bryston amp, the Pro-22's where much more transparent. They basically disappeared. I bought the RC30's for my HT set up.
