Wireless electricity?

I'm not convinced that EM radiation is harmless to animals (people are animals too), so i wouldn't want any appliance that purposefully generates EM fields capable of delivering hundreds of watts.

can you say ...Nicola Tesla..?

I know I didnt spell that rite...but ...thats one of the concepts he envisioned decades ago .. before Westinghouse had his way ...

Well ...kinda sorta... but Tesla envisioned, and demonstrated free electricity ...but ...the powers that be said .."We cant make money off this"...so down the road the idea went....then they killed him off ...and took all his notes to keep it out of the hands of others ..:sigh:

We are living in the future
I'll tell you how I know
I read it in the paper

We're all driving rocket ships
And talking with our minds
And wearing turquoise jewelry
And standing in soup lines
We are standing in soup lines

some are talking useing another part of the body...

Ever see the movie " The Quiet Earth " (New Zealand I think) ?
This "free electricity" concept gone all sorts of bad.
Lonnie
PS: Tesla definitely got screwed.

As if we didn't have enough problems with mains hum to begin with. :thumbsdn:

Also, this is going to drive hams nuts.

I have titanium in my face. Getting near the BART train is interesting.

There are already too many wavelengths being broadcast as is.

It looks like a mouse pad and can send power through the air, over a distance of up to a few inches.

The practical benefit of this approach is huge. You can drop any number of devices on the charging pad, and they will recharge -- wirelessly.

These wireless charging stations have been available for a while now. Quite the technology they have invented. I will be really impressed when they can power something from several feet or several miles away.

Couple of thoughts related to the topic.

I remember reading as a kid that the FBI or CIA, or both or something would recharge batteries in their bugs by bombarding the target building with microwave radiation. Hum. Don't know if it's true, but...

Saw an experiment on a television show where they used microwaves to beam power across a room. It was a proof of concept for solar stations in Earth orbit that would beam power to the ground. Cool stuff.

It's at best 40% efficient and I think it should be legal. It disgusts me so much I might contact my utility about it.
