Woofer Refoam referral? - SF Bay Area

Does anyone have a good referral for a professional refoamer in the SF Bay Area? I have a pair of AR-5's that need the woofers refoamed. I would prefer to deal with the individual who does the work rather than a shop that farms it out. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks, Dave

Some folks like Audiovex in Berkeley but I have a friend who says they take some time with work, not sure about time to refoam though.

check JBL Professional for a shop in your area, they could probably do the work as well for your AR.

Or send the drivers to Orange County Speaker Repair (www.speakerrepair.com) and wait a week or so, they'll do the job right, IME.

And Welcome to AK!

Appreciate the referral and welcome! I have used Audiovex, very happy with quality but turn around was quite slow. Was mainly hoping there might be another local alternative. Would rather not ship but I have also heard positives about OCSR. I will likely go back to Audiovex if nothing else is praised. Good news is I am not short on speakers! Dave

L&M Electronics

Another possibility is L&M Electronics on Geneva Avenue across the street from the Cow Palace. They do speaker refoaming although their specialty is hardware repair. They've been in the same location for a really long time and although I do my own refoaming, I've had a number of amplifiers repaired there as well as a B&O linear TT and can recommend them based on that experience.

In San Jose, Sertech off Blossom Hill Road can take care of it for you. They do all sorts of audio repair and will even do house calls.
