Wurlitzer 518 Jukebox info anyone?

Any Wurlitzer owners or knowable members with jukeboxes I can ask some questions?

Need to know if the lack of a mute switch can cause a volume to drop off and stay off.

Been told the volume will be heard at start of play them slowly drop off. Once gone it is gone until shut off and cools down again.

The muting switch and wire harness is gone, just three connections on the chassis from the looks of it.

Let me know if this is in the wrong section to be asking, but it is tube and mono so thought this might be the best place to start looking for info.

They are in the process of recap and checking resistors. Tubes all tested out fine BTW. But the muting switch and harness is gone. Was just checking to see if I could get any info for them on the unit.

My first guesses would be resistors that are changing values as they warm up and/or bad capacitors. I don't see how the missing switch would drop volume after it's come up to full power.

Could also be dirty switches somewhere in the path, I've occasionally seen those cause trouble as things warm up.

The muting switch was for when the record was changing, just before the tonearm would lift, it would mute the input until the cycle was complete so you would not hear the thump when the tonearm dropped the needle back onto the record.

It does sound like the amp is in need of repair such as recap and/or tubes.

So the default is no muting? With the switch missing then no mute?

They are waiting on caps and are in the process of checking the resistors. Just asked me about the muting switch as in connections to amp.

Correct! Without the switch, no muting.

By the way, you might try swapping out any 12AX7/12AU7 tubes if there are any. I had an amp that would fade out and it was one of the preamp tubes. Just something to check.

Update on this, turns out someone modified the input circuit and guessing also put a resistor 10X the value by mistake . Now back to what is on the diagram it is working except for a 60hz hum. All the electrolytic caps have been replaced so now checking, cleaning switches and grounds.
