Yamaha C-4 post-fix -- 2 dB lower right channel

SO I had the intermittent phono problem on the Yamaha C-4 -- one channel dropping out. After reading the threads I narrowed it down to a single wafer on the phono section. After reflowing the solder on all those small wafer PCB connections, I got phono to remain solid. Then I reflowed all the solders on all the other wafers. I also dexoited all switches.

No crackles, hums, buzzes, on any sources or switches. Looks good??

However, there is a 2 dB lower volume on the right channel (semi-technical measurement). This can be "compensated" by setting the balance switch to the right 1 o'clock position. Only the preamp does this -- other sources to my power amp and switching channel inputs/outputs shows the preamp has this.

The consensus (recruited family members) is that for the preamp all sources are doing this.

Is this a problem? Do I just set the balance switch right-wards and call it a day? Nah.....

Volume control could still be dirty or possibly mis-tracking ..

@avionic Thanks, guru!! Yeah. I kind of figured that after posting. It seemed the volume and/or balance switches made things go in and out, although none of them have any scratching or anything obvious. The switches are silent, but they do make the issue go on/off with a little jiggling. Since they were quiet I did not blame them.

I will have to do some more spraying.....I know in other posts you recommend taking the volume pot apart? Is that easy?
