Yamaha C4 selector switches problem

I am experiencing problems with the input selector switch and phono selector switch on my C4 pre amp. Sound distorts on one channel with input selector requiring movement of selector switch to remedy the problem. It seems as if contact is not made properly. The technician said it is difficult to reach and probably a bit old now thus requiring replacement. Does anyone know if there are "modern" units available to replace these ? The A S 500 seems to have a similar configuration for its selector switch, would something like that work?
Similar problem with phono selector - when I go from phono 1 (MM) to phono 3 (MC) or back one channel distorts until I fiddle with the switch a bit.
A bit irritating and I feel poor contact is leading to a loss of quality on the sound. Any advice besides deoxit? Is "spray cleaning the only answer? Have the switches seen better days due to age?
