Yamaha CA-1000 help needed

This is my first post on that forum so first of all let me to welcome everybody.
As I said this is my first post but I readed this forum no one time - its very helpfull. I wonder that sometime I will be so helpfull like other user.

Let me make some introduction myself. So I love older pieces of audio gear. My preffered toys are mentioned Yamaha CA-1000 amplifier, Yamaha CR-1020 reciver, Kenwood KP-5021 Turntable, Akai GXD-710D Cassete Deck, Yamaha KX-1200 Cassete Deck, and Uher Royal C Reel to Reel deck, and some more.....

Now, Let me go to main poin of the post.
Some time ago I bought Yamaha CA-1000 Amplifier. According to the seller she was in near mint condition, unfortunatelly in fact this is piece of junk. Many parts (i.m transistors) are replaced with different types. What courius different in right and left canal! :tears:
Finally I decided to made full restoration with original parts and there some problems arive.
First of all I have no suitable documentation. If anybody poses service manual, parts list, schema any other materials please help me save this amplifier.
Maybe someone poses pictures of the internal parts of this Yamaha and can and want to share them with me .

You should contact Yamaha and acquire a service manual. Here's the Owner's Manual..

I can tell you this much, the TO-66 driver transistors should be 2SA566 and 2SC680, the output TO3 transistors should be 2SC1079Y or 2SC1116 and 2SA679Y or 2SA747.

All of these are no longer available but given the correct numbers good subtitutes should be available from people like On Semi.

merrylander Thanks for this information. In my CA-1000 all of the transistors are different than mentioned by you, and are different on the left and right canal.
Yesterday, I found under my Cristmans tree (e-mail box) some very usefull documentation. So let me once more thanks to my "personal" St. Claus.

And there is a good news - all of transistors counted by merrylander are still aviable. I bought brand new set of original Hitachi driver transistors and in another place set of new original Motorolla output tranzistors. Moreover I found (and bought) SONY C1124 Transistors wich sholud be placed on the output board.

Thanks for your support. All are very helpfull. Now it looks that there is a hope to full restauration of my CA-1000

Watch out for counterfeit transistors (fakes)

On-Semi generally makes suitable TO-3 output replacements. Try bdent.com or mouser or digikey.

Get that great amp running again soon!

Upss.
I found Hitachi tranzistors in "Littlediode" in UK, Motorolla tranzistors in "Allpartsspipe" shop on e-bay (US?) and Sony tranzistor in Talon electronics (US), all of the shops gives invoices and quaranties for items.
All above shops are from internet ......
Shopping was already done ..... I hope, I was lucky and bought originals not fakes. Next time I must be more carefull.

J don't post anything for a long time but ......... I was working hard on my Yamaha ......
Now, she is alive again
I replace all of the tranzistors, and capacitors.
Moreover some burned rezistors was replaced. All swiches was fully cleaned of course. The worst situation was in plate below the main transformator. The plate was partialy burned.

All destroyed or "strange" parts was replaced with the oryginal parts (if only possible). Burned plate was restored. So finaly from electronic point of view she is brand new like. The sound is great - it is really beautifull piece of audio.

Once again many thanks for all who help me to save this Amplifer

Now it's time for outside restoration.
To do list is quite short:
1) Renovation of wooden case - it is relative simple
2) Replace the inner ring of the volume knob with the oryginal part.
And there is the question. Where can I found this part? Somebody poses completly died Yamaha CA series, and can share with this part with me?
Some place too buy?

And the secound question - I'm searching for Tuner "good enought" for this amplifier what model can be recomended?. It must be Yamaha CT-series. Actually I have Tuner CT-400 but the quality of this tuner is poor. I think about CT-800, CT-810, CT-1000 Tuners - some of mentioned models will be good pair to CA-1000?
