Yamaha DSP-A1 remote

I recently picked up a DSP-A1 with some issues.
Now it has no display, and I am OK with that my question is about the remote.

I have a RAV150 from an earlier Yamaha amp now long dead, and it looks identical to the RAV160 which is the remote for the DSP-A1.
Is it possible to get it to learn the dsp-A1 or somehow modify the rav 150 to work the dsp-a1.

Thanks.

I would suggest to give it a try as is. The codes should be essentially identical. I have used Yamaha remotes that looked different from the originals but worked perfectly. If you get too far away in terms of age you will run into problems but those two should be pretty interchangeable. I would suggest fixing the display or hooking it up to an appropriate monitor as getting those things set up blind is not easy.

I tried, it didn't work. But of course my remote had to have new batteries installed, and I forgot to press that reset button. I have not tried it after that.
My friends RAV160 works it correctly. That's why I asked. It may have some "learning" feature too.
But how to find its IR code and is it possible to change it ?
Cool.

I put the dsp-a1 on its side and powered it up, and a few mins later display works.
Remote still isn't though.
Cool.

The display issue is a known issue. I used to have an A1 with same issue, and repaired it. The solder cracks and loses connection.

There are step-by-step videos online.

Yea on the display, and effectively, if the remote works, I don't think I'd even need the display. Mine seems to be worse in the 4 power pin area. Cos its nothing, or almost all (except the first 2 characters on the upper line) - anyway open that one and everything gets fixed, no sense fixing just 1/2 of it.
Still trying to get the RAV150 working on it though.
Cool.
