Yamaha NS-670

I finally found a pair of early Yamaha NS-670 speakers. I'm amazed with how similar they are to the later NS-M series. Sadly, the midranges were not working and it seems they have experienced enough heat to melt the mid-range pot plastic trim. I pulled the mid drivers out and one worked. The other one had a broken lead that I was able to re-attach (I got lucky it wasn't inside). The tweets and woofers are fine.

So, I was looking over the components and it looks like I can use my spare NS-1000M x-over and gain controls without modifying the NS-670 cab. The change will look totally stock. I'm not sure what the result will be but the over-heating issue won't come back. This should be a fun project.

After I'm done, I'll be very interested in how the NS-670 compares to my NS-200M's.

Did you ohm out the L-pad that got hot.. I had to repair one of those recessed plastic L-pad cups on one of my NS-690's..I purchased a new knob from Yamaha.com, but that was 3 or 4 years ago.
