Yamaha NS-70t ?

These are excellent build quality. These were NOT rack system speakers.I would pursue them. Make sure the tweets are sweet before you put them in the back seat.

Mmm... they don't have that green glow beryllium usually shows in pictures of of the 1000's. Look a lot like 690's or 670's.

I do not think that these have the beryllium drivers. I have a pair of NS-20Ts from the same era (purchased from Merrylander). The 20Ts are very respectable little speakers and appear to have the same woofer (size?) and tweeter. I have found the 20Ts, at least, to be a bit bright, but with some power behind them (courtesy of a CR-1000) they really open up and sound nice. I think that I would pursue them as well if they sound right, can be picked up and are the right price--good luck!

Sure don't look like beryllium drivers to me. I have the NS-500's and they have the green/purple color to them.

I too was watching those as a local pick up. I have a pair of the 75T with a dead mid. They are not the same drivers so I will take them off my watch list. I can tell you that the 75T is one hell of a speaker when working right, so the 70 is probably not too much of a slouch. Without the berelium mids and tweeters these are still very impressive in their own right.

my pair of 500's have beryilium tweets my ns30t's a great sounding speaker in there own right do not but boy do they sound sweet

I have a set of NS-70Ts, and although they don't have any beryllium drivers they are a really sweet sounding speaker. Not as good as my NS-500Ms, but pretty dang close to, if not maybe a bit more enjoyable than my NS-690s. I wouldn't have any reservations about picking them up if you can get 'em cheap.
