Yamaha Tweeter for NS-1000M

Hello,

I just picked up a pair of NS-1000M's for $50 bucks and one of the tweeters is blown. The model on it says JA-0513, but I'm seeing listings on ebay, etc, that say the JA-0520 works for it as well. Does anyone know if this is the case, or what the differences between the 2 are?

Thanks for the help.

Not sure about the differences between the two parts numbers, but I would recommend trying to get a pair of tweeters that came out of a matched pair of speakers.

Unlike most speakers sold by most manufacturers, Yamaha tested and matched individual tweeter pairs for the NS-1000 series: only tweeters with virtually identical characteristics were put together, and those speakers were then sold together as a pair. This made sure that every pair sold were virtually identical, from a sonic viewpoint, which enhances the clarity and detail of the soundstage. If you randomly mix-and-match tweeters from different pairs, you'll have to be extremely lucky to end up with a pair that will sound as good as an original (carefully-matched) pair.

You may never notice what isn't there, but if you A/B'd a pair that were matched with a pair that weren't, the differences would be (subtly) audible.

Get the JA-0513. Although matched pairs are nice, they are not necessary. The High control is a true gain control so in the unlikely event you can hear a difference, you can balance them.

Your tweeters may be repairable, depending on what is wrong with them. I do repairs on these drivers.

No...the 520's are for the NS-890 I believe .Mounting flange in one is larger than the other.
