Can anyone tell me which of the Yamaha YP turntables would be the best?
I recently saw a Yamaha YP D10 turntable locally and it looked great but I know nothing about it. Unfortunately its owner is not selling it.

I was wondering if there are other nice turntables in the Yamah YP line?

Also, what other vintage turntable would be recommended (under $300) for my vintage stereo setup: Yamaha CR 2020 receiver, Rotel CD player, Dahlquist DQ 10 speakers. Thanks.

The only experience ive had is with the Yamaha YP-D6, and its one of my favorite tables ever. Its a semi-auto, and simply just makes killer music.
 
As far as Yamaha goes you might consider the P- series as well. Not as pretty perhaps as the YP- series being of the1980ish minimalist/industrial japanese style. But just as musical, and bullet-proof as well.

I had a YP-D4 that wouldn't hold stable speed to save it's life. Looked good, but the speed drifted. Never did any diagnosis so its possible it was a simple fix but I got something better and gave it away before I ever bothered to check into it.
 
i'm a suspended, belt-drive turntable fan.

i have a couple of YP-701 turntables that i really like. the platter and arm are suspended on the same chassis along the lines of the AR XA, but the motor is also (independently) suspended which is a very nice feature. the arm is a thing of beauty, and very 3009-like. they also have auto return/shut off and cueing.

i have two AR XA tables as well, one stock and one modded. sound-wise (and all other things being equal), the stock YP-701's will beat my stock AR, but the modded AR has a slight edge.

The YP-701 is beautiful but the arm on it is excellent, but it is no SME 3009 II Improved. I like most middle to upper end Yamaha turntables very well in performance and build quality. And they do have very good stock tonearms. The Yamaha table to beat them all is still the Japan only GT 2000, a work of engineering high art. All models recommended in this thread will serve you very well.
 
Px3's come up often in your price range and - provided they are in proper operating condition - are spectacular sounding tables. Might want to add these to your watch list...

I also have a YP-701. It is a truly excellent turntable. I can't imagine what it would cost nowdays to manufacture something so nice.
